Hey guys, I got stuck on a sandbar yesterday and clogged my cooling line with gunk. All the research I've done says I need to pull the lower unit off and clean it out. I have a couple of questions about doing that, as this is my first time.
I've discovered that this must be a clog and not an impeller problem because when hooking a hose up to the garden hose attachment for flushing, no exhaust water is being expelled, which is the same problem I have when the engine is running.
Thanks for the any help/guidance you can give!!
- Can I do this while the boat is in the water?
- If not, is it okay to run the boat to a boat ramp so I can trailer it during the maintenance (about a quarter mile of water from me to the ramp)?
- How do i get the lower unit off and what do I need to look for to clean out?
