I own a 1989 Yamaha 150-ETXF. Is the ignition system (all components) off a 1987 Yam 150 the exact same system? Can it be used on my '89?

Thanks,

Re: Yamaha ignition...

Hi,
I don't need any of it right now but I was thinking of buying the system from someone selling it just to have the parts if mine should fail. I'm kind of a pack rat for things like that and I'm sure these components are very expensive to replace new.

Thanks for the info rodbolt!

Re: Yamaha ignition...

Your wife will bury them with you based on my experience. I have several sets where we converted to the older electronics for race motors. My son has a shop in Florida and I have been able to sell a very few parts to him. The oil sensor and the rectifier have been the only thing I have sold more than once. Their failure rate is very low.

I didn't know they were so reliable and I don't need one in the coffin either.
Maybe I'll just buy a new reel instead....

Thanks Ray!
