Yamaha lower unit Problems

I have a 2001 150 v-max motor, I went out today and the motor worked great until 15 min into my trip and it popped out of gear. kinda like I spun the prop. It would only idle for a while and then work again in gear, later it would do it again, any solutions to fix the problem? Any help would be appreciated. Matt

either miss adjusted shift cable or a worn clutch dog

A bent shifter pin can also cause this problem. First be sure the cables are adjusted properly.
