I just took out the tank to replace the strainer, the holder and bracket are very rusted and breaking apart. New ones are $122.30. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative or something made out of plastic that will hold up to saltwater?

I think I will try using a battery tray, it's about the same width I will just need to cut the ends off as it is about 1.5 inches longer. Inexpensive and won't rust...

It would be good if you gave us the year and model of the motor you have.

The part you need is called a holder oil, sub tank. The part has been changed since the original design. The part number is 6E5-21734-01-33. It is $84.92 I hope this helps you.
