I just don't need 10 of 'em. Or even 1. :) You know when they're posting pics of other companies stuff as their own that they're a little less than trustworthy.

Hey, Bubba--I hear ya. I'm that old too and yes, back then Japanese goods were crap, but they were also cheap so there was some market for them. HOWEVER at some date--which I don't remember-- the fellow from Bell Labs (ATT) who developed all ATT quality control programs, went there and taught them quality control which they embraced wholeheartedly. They learned very quickly that consumers (in any country) are willing to pay a premium for a premium quality product. Something the Chinese manufacturers have yet to learn. Once the Chinese government gets corruption under control and when manufacturers see the light, their products will come up to world class.

Of course, there is also a money problem where a manufacturer needs to have sufficient funds to improve. Compare the original Hyundai and Kia imported in the 90s to those produced today. These Korean manufacturers were heavy equipment makers and had the funds and desire to produce a good quality car.

Re: Yamaha outboard Copies from China?

Consumers are demanding cheaper and cheaper pricing because their buying power is diminishing.

Young bean counters want to impress their CEO's and come up with huge reductions in manufacturing costs. (China)

CEO wants to see bottom line improve to impress Wall Street and gives the ok.

Consumers buy this new cheap product but it fails prematurely. They throw it away and buy another cheap Chinese product. It fails......

Rinse and repeat.

The land fills grow with Chinese garbage, but not as fast as the bank accounts of the companies that sell this Chinese garbage.
