My trim on my 200hp Yamaha works good going up, but when I let it down from the tilt until it reaches the trim it jumps. I can put a small amount of upward pressure as it is going down and it stops the jumping.
I have tried bleeding the air but it made no difference.
Any indeas?

Re: Yamaha Power Trim

check that the support rod, runs through the tilt tube, isnt binding. its the normal cause of your description and will lead to steering cylinder leaks.

Re: Yamaha Power Trim

next time its full up liberally spray the tilt ram with Fluid Film or similar lube and work it up and down. occasionally the rod will drag in the cap due to corrosion.
