;)I have a 1986 Yamaha and the low oil sensor kicked in when turning a corner. The engine won't rev past just above idle unless I nudge the choke in an out. It then revs momentarily and then slows again. It never did this before and even after adding oil there is now improvement. The oil was actually low when this happened for the first time. Any ideas about how to sort this out? I have checked the fuel system as well as the float switch.

by nudging the choke and it goes indicates a carb problem not an oil alarm issue.

Is there a component to the system that would be overridden by the choke switch? It doesn't feel like a fuel system problem and came on suddenly. It feels like an electronic control that is very direct, no hesitation or lean popping or missing.

robolt is right. your motor is acting like a fuel problem. chk. fuel quality and chk. for any leaks-air into fuel system and fuel leaking out. easy way to conferm carb/fuel prablem,: remove the air box over the carbs, have some one take the helm ( do not try this alone!), as the r.p.ms drop use a spray bottle filled with gas/oil mix (50:1) and spray in each carb. if the r.p.ms pick up that is the problem carb. good luck!
