Hi Guys, I'm wondering if someone here could possibly help me out with a problem I'm having..
I've recently purchased a brand new Yamaha 30HP 30HMH 2 Stroke & Remote control kit.
I took it for its very first run yesterday, and experienced a problem.
I'll start from the start..
* I backed the trailer into the water & unhooked the boat.
* I jumped in & started her up, So far so good.
* I threw it in reverse, backed her away from the beach.
* Changed into forward gear, and away I went..
Now the problem starts...
* I went to slip it into neutral and it wouldnt go.. I couldn't get it out of forward gear..
* I headed back for the sand, and cut the engine.. drifted back into the beach... did a quick check where everthing seemed fine, and headed back out again..
* SAME BLOODY THING HAPPENED..
So I coasted her back into the beach, loaded her back onto the trailer & headed home to have a better look..
Now... Here's what I need help with...
With the engine cut off, I put it into forward.. In forward, i manually moved the prop just a little bit, and it felt as if it clicked into place... I took it back to neutral (still with the motor off) and this time it went in without a hitch... I then attempted to put it in reverse, and it wouldn't go.. If I move the prop just a little bit however, it'll slip into reverse without a problem... It seems the prop in a certain position stops it from being able to come out of forward..
does that make sence to anyone?
Again, This is a BRAND NEW MOTOR... its been run for all of about 10 minutes, Its still in the run-in period..
Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated
Terry
Oops, I forgot to mention, it does exactly the same thing, with or without the remote control connected, So the problem isnt in the remote, or cables
