I've got a yamaha 225 that keeps shutting off on me. It will start up fine and run fine at top end. But when ever I go back down to idle. . .the majority of the time, it will just shut off. It dosen't "sneeze" or make any abnormal sounds.

I have looked at all of my fuel lines. They "seem" to be fine. The fuel pumps were replaced last fall.

Any things more things to check before I take it to the dealer?

thanks,

matt

Its likely time for a carburetor rebuild. The symptoms you are seeing will often occur every few years when the boat is brought out from winter storage. Fuel sitting in the carbs for long periods of time will evaporate and build up deposits that gunk up the carbs.

Re: Yamaha shuts off???

Hey guys,

Thanks for the response.

It is a 1996 225 ox 76. I just rebuilt the carbs at the end of last season. I stored it with the bowls dry, so i don't figure that is the problem. It also has three new fuel pumps (oct 04).
I checked the fuel lines to make sure there are no cracks or holes.

Matt
