Yamaha T8 Gear Oil Capacity Problem

I have a 2005 Yamaha T8PXRC on my boat as a kicker motor. The gear oil capacity calls for 12 oz, although when I fill it, I only get in 7 or 8 oz before it starts pouring out the upper hole.<br /><br />Just to be clear, I am filling it through the bottom hole until it comes out the top hole. I adjust the engine trim so the engine is straight up and down.<br /><br />Is there something I am doing wrong? I'm worried there is not enough oil in it.<br /><br />Thanks.

if you are squirting it in the bottom and its coming out the top everything is going exactly to plan and will be fine. use new plug washers.
