KENNESAW, Ga. ? Yamaha Marine Group announced its new 2012 boat show promotion, offering consumers either five years of warranty protection or a credit of up to $2,000 on goods or services from authorized Yamaha Outboard dealers.

The promotion gives buyers of eligible, new Yamaha 2.5 to 350 hp four-stroke outboards a choice between three year Yamaha Limited Warranty Coverage and an additional two years of Yamaha Extended Service or a credit of up to $2,000 toward the purchase of goods or services available from participating Yamaha Outboard dealers.

The promotion is available for eligible new outboards purchased and warranty registered between Jan. 3 and March 31, Yamaha said.

?This promotion gives dealers a great way to increase sales and kick off 2012 with a successful boat show season,? said Dale Barnes, division manager, marketing, Yamaha Marine Group, in a release. ?With ?The Proven Choice Sales Event,? dealers now have a tool to jump start their sales while offering their customers real value with their purchases ? it?s a win/win for everyone.?

I could live with that. They need something to kick start the other manufacturers' Spring selling season. Competition is good.

Whatever they can do to get folks to shell out big$$$ for a new motor!....This poor man tries to just keep running what I've got, but there always seems to be plenty of folks with plenty of money! We saw a 30' Contender at the ramp the other day with triple 300HP Mercury's on the back!....Good luck to all of them!:)

That's the same BS the car manufacturer's do. It shouldn't break in 3 years, and if it does the implied waranty survives.

Why not just discount it 3 grand instead of making you spend for extras you maybe don't need?
