Yamha 200 Oil Injection pump leaking.

I have a 1998 200 yamaha that leaks injection oil when the boat sits. i have cleaned around the pump and the tank and the leak seems to be where the pump connects to the block. I see a o-ring that I will replace but I cant see any more gaskets or seals. Has anyone ever seen a pump just leak and need replacing.

You did not indicate where the leaks was. If it is low, you may have a pin hole in the service line. If they are old, replacing them all may be a better solution and cheep too. If the engine is geeting the proper oil, it will run fine. Too little, it will run hot or seeze. I would not replace unless you are haveing oil problems, leaks are just like mud on the hull, unsigntly, but not a big problem.

hello<br /> I have seen 1 or 2 pump mounting orings leak. usually if the pump leaks its internal and causes oiling and fouling on the lower cylinders. are you sure its not the engine oil tank cap leaking when the unit is trimmed up?<br /> the pump is easy to replace but rather expensive. good luck and keep posting

I've never used this forum before, so I don't know if I'm doing this correctly.<br />I'll I need to know is about what is the compression on a 200 Yamaha V-max suppose to be?<br />thanks, John

o2tech,<br />I hope I can help you out. I have an 1990 Suzuki 150 that was leaking oil. I took it in and just found out today that one of the oil injection lines was melted because it was hitting the power-head. I got it replaced and re-routed it all is fixed. I have been trying to solve this problem for 2 months. I know this is one in a million that you have the same problem as me but I thought it might help.<br /><br />Good luck.

Thanks for all the help, I think I found the problem. There is a small seal on the input shaft of the pump. The seal had slipped out and was on the drive. I cleaned and reisntalled the seal and the o-ring. if this does not hold i will try and match the seal ( it is not shown on the parts breakdown) or may replace the whole pump. Again thanks for all of the help this is the first time I have used this forum.
