Anyone know of why my 2004 Yammy 225 4 stroke wont stay trimmed in the up position. Had the boat anchored in the water over the weekend and I trimmed the lower unit out of the water but the engine would not stay put. Did this twice and proceeded to use the locking levers to keep it up.

Any one know the reason for this ??

First thing to check is that the manual release screw is not open, try opening it a ? to ? turn and close to reseat it. It is located on the out side of the mounting bracket

Is the release valve screws are tight then next check you fluid levels, top up and purge.

leak down for the 64E showa units, up main check valve, manual release valve, trim piston oring, tilt piston oring or free piston orings. if any of these leak it will drift down.
any sign of external fluid leakage?
