Knock 2 grand off and that wouldn't be bad.

I do NOT understand people who price their boats at max value and can't even put the effort in to clean them up.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The outside looks pretty clean, lowball him a little. Wouldn't take a whole heck of a lot to clean the inside up as long as it runs strong, and well, floats. Lol.

Saw another, but haven't ever heard of this one before

I think it has been established that cash/used are the way to go. The Bayliner looks like it has been pretty well cared for, but for that year it seems a bit high priced to me. I had the same needs/wants as you ... my Skeeter bass boat was great for me, but not much of a family boat. I kept my eyes open and found a dual console, (http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=318826) at a great price (less than $6000 for a '98 with trolling motor, depth finder, 7.5hp kicker motor, and 115 Johnny outboard).

A year later I am still very happy with her and didn't have to borrow money, kept it within budget, and got all we wanted and more. Keep your eyes open, something great will come along.

Looks nice. Couple points of info....Sunbirds were definitely very low end boats. They were owned by OMC for the most part so they usually had OMC stern drives which you don't want. However that one seems too new for an OMC. Make sure it's sportin' a Mercruiser.

I figured, I hadn't even heard of them before! I may still go take a look at it, it looks like a pretty clean boat.

I think the title is probably more accurate with the typo . . . :D

Especially when your wife finds out what you plan on spending. And then when you spend even more adding stuff to it.:eek:

I also go with the idea of a used boat, but I'm not comfortable with one that is 15 years old..... If nothing else, time starts to break down plastics and rubber based items.

Both of the boats we have now were bought used. Our pontoon is a 97 that I bought 5 years ago and needed a little work. And our powerboat is one that I got a great deal on. Without giving everything away, the original owner of our Sea Ray took almost a $32k loss on a boat that was 2 years old and had 105 hours on it and threw in the skis, vest, and safety gear. Boat was/is immaculate and had been marina kept/serviced.

My suggestion is to narrow down what type boat, what years you are willing to look at, and then set up the searches on Ebay, Craigs List, Iboats, and the local classifieds. I put bids in on over 35 boats before I got the Sun Deck.... Don't get caught up on any one boat... There is always another for sale. Plus I do enjoy the hunt for a great deal almost as much as I like being on the boat....almost....

Regardless what you buy, just do your research on new and used. when you see the right boat you will know.

I feel the same way about hunting for a deal, with vehicles anyway. I love that feeling leaving the dealership when you feel like you got one over on them. But I'm sure they're laughing inside just the same lol.
