Re: Yes! Finally a Boat Owner!
I read all 19 pages of the thread about mistakes!!!!
I'm confident that I avoided all of them.
Well we got it registered today and I couldnt wait for the weekend, so i left work early and took it to lake ming!
My wife and I
It went flawless, the launch was a bit awkward, I took off the rear straps, made sure the plug was in!
backed her in and kept backing in because the rear end wouldnt float off the trailer, ended up with the rear wheels of my truck right at the water line... wanted to stay dry but it didnt happen.
Started to undo the winch unspooled about 5' and pushed the boat, she floated off nicely. Hopped in, and of course the keys were in my truck! (so i did have one little mess-up) wife tossed them to me, she fired up beautifully, tilted her down a few degrees and gave her some reverse, it came out nicely. only awkward part was getting her close to the dock without ramming.
My wife and I both took turns, the lake only had one other boater and they were busy with a skier who kept falling, lol.
it went fine, really enjoyed it and look forward to making a day out of it.
Went to load and it went pretty much flawless, tied her down to the dock, backed the trailer in, pulled her onto the trailer, and winched her in the rest of the way.
it really did pay to read all the mistakes so i can avoid them...
One thing thou, when i removed the plug about a pint of water came out. I was boating for about 45min.
Is this normal or should I be concerned? once while we were out I stopped and opened up the engine bay to check for water, just paranoid after reading all the funny stories and it was dry....
