Well they do have gas tanks! Once there is a rupture everything will smell.

I didn't click the link, but burning a boat is a great way to collect on insurance. And you don't even have to be sly about it.
My boat policy said this (maybe not verbatim, but the wording means what I typed):

"Damage caused by maintenance and repair is excluded. Unless damage results in fire, then only the damage due to the fire is covered"

I used to work for my insuranc company, and I confirmed that what this meant in practical application is that if I was working on my boat, and say I had the gas line off and tried to start the boat and the fuel spilled and sparked, and burned my boat to the water line or to the trailer, my insurance would pay for everything, except the fuel line! That's the truth!

Could it be deliberate? Insurance settlement?

Uh... don't know about this case, but it happens all the time. Pretty safe as far as insurance fraud goes if you have a lick of sense.

Any similiarity to "Financial Combustion" is meerly coincidental and in no way reflect the opinion of this forum.

I read the link, and all it said was the guy was rescued off his burning boat, which sank, no allusion to arson, except for all the sceptic posting after it like you guys, hope none of you are on my jury.

I'm telling wajajaja's jury he burned his boat! ;)

To think, those boats are works of beauty and people are purposely setting them on fire (maybe this guy, maybe not.. probably this guy ;)). What a loss.. All that effort and talent to build a boat and a guy sinks it on purpose.

Insurance companies have investigators. I'll let them worry about it. I have a reasonable degree of confidence they will pay only if they are required to pay.
