as said previously I have not seen all the ramps just the ones in our area. We are fortunate here I know.

Hilarious!

We run out of a small marina in a bay with little traffic. However, the last time I was out, I was taking my time approaching the entrance of the harbor due to the PWC traffic. I was no more than 75 yards out when I heard the thru-hull exhaust of a "fishing" boat blow past me at about 13-15 yards off port. I continued to idle in through the wake, made it into the marina, and then had to wait while they backed up to make a second approach into their dock! I may have been audibly unkind...especially when they were just sitting in their golf cart talking to Billy Bob in the traffic lane for vehicles coming off the ramp.

FYI The following is from the Michigan DNR:

When retrieving, do not pull your vessel into a launch lane until the towing vehicle is at the ramp. The line is formed by vehicles with trailers, not by vessels in the water. Drop off the vehicle driver, and wait offshore and clear of the ramp until he or she arrives with the trailer.QUOTE]

Here's a twist to the above...

My son and I arrived back at the courtesy dock last night and I ran up to get my 4Runner and trailer. When I came back there was another truck and trailer backed onto the ramp. Here's the rub. The only boat within sight was ours!

I asked the guy where his boat was. "It's coming," he said. Sure enough, way out on the lake came a boat around the point. The guy said they lived on the lake and Dad was loading the boat to take it out for the season.

Get mad? Nah. It only cost us an additional 8 to 10 minutes. And besides, we wanted to see how Dad was going to load his boat when son backed the left side of the trailer off the ramp so it was badly tilted (Dad tried, but had to abandon the attempt until son repositioned trailer).

Ramps are a good source of entertainment, yes?:)

At our neighborhood ramp it depends on whether you are coming or going although the trailer usually takes precedence. The vehicles are parked right by the ramp, so it's not like if someone was to pullout, he would tie up the ramp and to walk 1/4 to get his rig. Personally, I will help to speed the process up.
I've seen a lot happen at the ramp over the decades, but never a ruckus over that - it usually works out.
Remember this is a neighborhood ramp and it just so happens to be a redneck neighborhood. Would you want to tee someone off and leave your rig there all day? every other weekend?
