Zerk/Grease Fitting on 2000 Yamaha V-Maxx

I went to grease my sterring rod (in front of the cowling) and the zerk/fitting/nipple came off in the tip of the grease gun. Got that out of the grease gun with vice grips at the hardware store but that made the fitting/zerk stripped threads. Just wondering if anyone knows the Specifications/Size of that Zerk Fitting. 6mm is too big as the threads won't go into the fitting.

Am I going to have to call Yamaha directly. The 3 Yammie dealers I spoke with said they'd get back to me and not one of them has!
