I have a Zodiac Pro II 470 (new tubes made in 2010). The valves on these tubes are black with a grey insert which has a green button (push in on the button to deflate).

My foot pump came with a lot of fittings, but does not have one for this type valve.

Does this valve have a particular name?

I'm trying to find the correct fitting to pump it up. The Zodiac parts drawing for this boat lists the pump fitting as part 6854. However, the tubes are brand new, and the guy I got them from told me that they are not exactly the same as the old tubes he took off. Perhaps the valve is different and the Zodiac part shown will not fit these valves.

Thanks.

ssobol,

The valve you are asking about is a proprietary valve, made for Zodiac. There is an adapter that goes on the end of the fitting on the foot pump hose that friction-fits into the throat of the insert.

They are sold at Defender and other places.

Re: Zodiac Pro II 470 valve

My foot pump has a bayonet connection at the end of the hose. So the suggested adapter will not work. The pump came with another boat (my pump has no obvious brand or model markings).

I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Pictures of the valve on my boat, my pump, and the end of the pump hose.

Thanks.

Re: Zodiac Pro II 470 valve

A complicated valve compared to others, the only possible alternatives will be ;

Wrapping 3M electric tape on hose end to increase diameter if needed to fit gray valve interior.

You could mold with gas stove same diameter plastic tube to match, the ones used for piping.

Make a nylon/bronze valve adapter that fits hose end to inside grey round portion at a machine shop.

Buy the valve adapter Slance recommends and hope that both int/ext diameters matches if they happen to be zodiac brand original valves.

If you decide to change inflator, whatever brand you choose will give the same valve fit problem as all hose ends matches most comon used valves.

You need to cut that fitting off the end of the hose and replace with a barbed fitting, onto which the Zodiac valve adapter can fit. See attached.

Re: Zodiac Pro II 470 valve

FYI. Seeing how the Zodiac adapter is just a piece of tube (US$13.00). I went to Home Depot and got a piece of 7/8" O.D. vinyl tube (10ft/US$8.00). Works perfectly.

As a special deal to forum members I will gladly sell you the adapter I developed. US$10 each. I have about 60 of them. ;)
