All right fellas. I have been wrestling with this motor for two years and alas I was referred to this board for help. It started with ethanol and bad gas gumming up carbs and eating away all of my plastic fuel fittings and lines. There was a lot of water inthe gas. In the course of the repair history I have rebuilt and cleaned carb, replaced fuel pump, coils, water pump and impeller.II just got it back from the Suzuki repair shop and it was leaking oil out of the top of the tank, which I fixed with some tie straps and electrical tape. Solved that problem with a band aid. The major problem I have now is air in my fuel line. It idles great, but under full RPM load boggs down and stalls. The primer ball gets soft and I can see air bubbles flowing back in the clear plastic fuel line just past the fitting on the engine. The fuel pump is one of the newest parts, so I am thinking it is air bound. What do you guys think? I checked all fittings and hoses for leaks, even shortening the lenghts of hose and re-clamping each connection. I am at my wits end with this unit and can really use a few ideas. Dealer said it ran great for him the first time, got it home after pump and impeller job and it pumped no water. Brought it back and it pumps water but now won't run at full throttle. He said it ran fine for him in the tank??? Yeah, at idle. He didn't put a load on it.

Try removing the fuel fitting at the tank and sticking the end of the hose into a gallon jug of fuel. Run the motor to see if you have the same problem. The pump is sucking air in some where. If this does not do it then change the hose complete.

Thanks James, I'll give that a go.

By passed the tank and put hose down in the fuel. Same problem. Motor idles nicely, but only runs at higher r.p.m. for about 30 seconds before stalling out and the ball gets soft with air. Will try swapping hose assembly, but the one I have is new, which leads me to believe air is getting in elsewhere.

Tried bypassing fuel fitting on the motor and barbed the fuel hose and fuel line together. Not it-same problem. Do you think it could be the check valve on the fuel pump or the carb?

TTT

I apologize for the long rambling post, but this unit hasn't run properly or been repaired properly for almost three years and at least $600. Is it time to scrap it for parts?? I could really use some advice.

This stuff is such a challenge. It was not actually an air leak, but a fuel leak. Cleaned jets on carb and the motor ran great for an hour and then the problem came back. Nice slick of fuel around the engine. checking all internal fuel hoses and perhaps carb gasket. Anywhere else I should check. Fuel appears to be coming from exhaust.
