hot riser question

Just converted my 1997 4.3LX over to the 2-piece exhaust manifolds and am now worried I may have a problem. Went out for the first time yesterday and noticed the port side riser was cool to the touch while the starboard was too hot to keep my hand on. It seemed like the starboard riser was a lot warmer than the starboard exhaust manifold. The install went smooth with all OEM parts so I was a little upset when I noticed this temp yesterday. Is that typical or do I have an issue? What should my next step be?

The starboard riser will always be a bit hotter then the port. If you can put your had on it and instantly not get burned, your ok. I can put my hand on mine but just don't want to keep it there because it is very uncomfortable.

Dad always said better get use to hot things or change my was, I have been trying to get use to them ever since

Why is this? I just assumed the two should have fairly equal temps. Next trip out (maybe this weekend) I will take some IR temp readings to see what the actual numbers are. Am I correct in assuming that if the engine temp does not overheat then it should be fine? The temp always stays right around 160 - 170 degrees with a factory 165 degree thermostat installed. Not sure of the exact temp since the gauge is pretty basic without much numbering in that range.

Ayuh,..... 'cause water takes the path of least resistance, 'n the system is not Exactly balanced,... 'n the faster ya go, the closer the temps will get,....
