Removed the starboard riser last night.
Definitely needs to replaced, hard to tell if the gasket was leaking after removal of the riser.
Couldn't get a good pic of the inside but there was a lot of "debris" inside when looking into the exhaust side.
I"m wondering if this caused blockage and caused the raw water to back up and put pressure on the block-off gasket.
The gasket seemed to be pushed-out on the manifold side (not sure if this makes sense).

Howdy,

The engine looks closed cooled........... That's a heat exchanger in the picture?

If so, the gasket will be a "Block-off" gasket which would prevent raw water from getting into the manifold.

If the riser(s) is(are) clogged, it will absolutely place pressure on the block-off gaskets, your risers will run pretty hot and the rubber exhaust parts would also run hot and/or burn.

I would be planning to replace both risers and inspect all the rubber couplings, flappers etc.........

Removed Port Riser today.
Think this side is where my problem is/was.
Look at the pic of the manifold....looks like salt deposits, hopefully from a leak in the gaskets of riser.
Never hydro locked and no water in oil.

Riser

I actually tasted the deposits in the manifold.......definitely salt.
Should I just leave this?
Afraid to try to clean it out, don't want to get it into a cylinder.

Ayuh,.... No pictures I can see,....

Either way, whatever ya clean up, even if dropped down the manifold, will come Flyin' out, as soon as ya start the motor,....

Ayuh,....

You've got Alota cleanin' to do,....

By the looks of the salt trail, it's been leakin' Awhile,....

Have ya got compressed air Tony,..??

If ya Do,....
Do a thorough clean up, includin' the salt trails, pull the plugs on that side, 'n blow air into the cylinders,...
If a valve was open, you'll blow out any crud that got in,....
All the cylinders with closed valves, will blow the crud out, when ya light 'er off,...

Took pics of manifolds after clean-up.
I put the risers to the curb and when I got home they were gone!.....no pics.

Going to replace risers and use gaskets and block-off plates this time.
