Going through a 4.3 that was updated to Vortec heads and Performa intake. Had to pull the motor down, even though a new motor the PO allowed water to get in, one cylinder is pitted enough to bore the engine - a crime - brand new pistons, rings, oil pump, intake, heads and he left it out with just a tarp covering the engine and not even the flame arrestor on the carburetor.
Anyway, to the point, I have to mix and match gaskets with a Vortec converted motor. Was looking at intake gaskets and they come in several materials. With an aluminum intake do I want the all silicon rubber model or the metal core type? Seems like the different expansion contraction of an alum intake on a iron block might benefit from a all silicon gasket that would stay soft and flexible, until the day it dried up and cracked.
Thanks for the thoughts!
