I just bought a 1999 Four Winns Horizon 180 with the V6 Volvo Penta 4.3 liter in it the boat was professionally winterized last winter I unwinterize this fall and took it out 2x just a little bit .. did real good then when I went out for the first big trip as soon as it hit temperature oil and water mixture started spewing from the carburetor letting me know that there was water in the oil so my question is is since it was still running really good even with the oil coming out is it a cracked intake or could it still be a cracked head gasket and run that good and how do I test these. I have all the Walls down and am ready to tear into her but not sure if I should just pull hole moter or Try to replace the intake only first. I will say that I pulled it right out of water when I saw the problem and it never got hot or left me stuck. It was actually ran pretty good the hole time. BUT..... this am (easter morning) happy Easter everyone.. I went out and tore the walls down to inspect the engine and I tried to crank it to see ware to oil/water was coming from and it sounded like the starter was grinding on a tooth of the fly wheel or something. Sounded really bad considering when I pulled it out of the lake it was running fine minus the oze coming out of top of moter. So I gusset my questions are
Should I pull hole moter out?
Should I buy a new long block or try and fix this one?
What are the chances of it just being the intake?
Will a compression test tell me anything?
What should I do first?
Should I drain oils and replace and try and start?
Drain oil and pull moter?
Pull intake and inspect?
