Upper motor mount bolt question, Force 125

So I'm swapping powerheads on my 1988 Force 125 to make it a 150.

Upper motor mounts came out easy. Surprised!

But I notice the mounting bolts were conventional steel. The ones whose heads point down are exposed to saltwater, and pretty rusted. But they did come out, no problem.

Shouldn't they be stainless? I know it's more brittle and prone to galling, so maybe there's a reason they weren't stainless.

Or maybe the previous owner was in a hurry! He had two plain steel and three of the original stainless 1/4-20's in the trim pump, so.....

$$$ is why they didn't use stainless.
You know the mid section on a 125 and a 150 are way different??
Swappin powerheads is a bit more complicated!!!
Probably not gonna work?????

Hmmm... I kinda went over the 150/125 swap questions a while back with Frank. You gave some good info, too, jerryjerry05.

I'd be glad to know more. First post about swap is linked,

The adaptor plate for both motors are different.
The mid section for both motors is different.

Any idea what year the 150 is?
Someplace on the block is a foundry stamp, usually under the area where the packs go.
In the circle of the stamp is a number. That's the year.

Pull up pics of the parts for both motors and compare the mid sections.
I don't think it'll work????

SUCKS!!!!
One good thing is the resale on the 150 $$$$

I'd check the top cyl on the 150.
The comp was low.
Pull the top cylinder transfer port and see if you can see any damage.
Pull the plug and look for damage.
Maybe pull the head?

I had a "good" block. Great compression.
Bought the motor, it ran and ran good.
Had it sold to a guy on here.
But something said "take the head off and check"
I did and found a bad cylinder.
I fixed it and then sold it to Gregsmere.
He's still running it.

Even if the cyl. is bad it's still worth more than the 60$ you paid.

Here's one photo of what I think is the foundry stamp. It's a capital A inside a circle and it reads:

800-818155-C
Made in USA

Tear it apart, snap some bolts, take it to a motorcycle machine shop, bore/hone put it back together, now you have a known product.
