Mid-Engine Corvette - Finally

After what seems like since the Vette came out in 1953, rumors and speculation about a mid-engined model may be coming true. Meant to go head to head with European high priced and performance Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini for only about $5K more than the current Vette. Of course that's the base price at around $62K and a special higher performance Zora named for Zora Duntov, the Father of the Corvette, will be twice as much, but still a bargain compared to the Euros.

Don't like it. Looks too European, they need to stick to their roots.... But, I will take one if it was given to me...

I prefer the Mossy Oak Break Up Pattern to the camo paint job that have on that Vette ...

Building a reliable mid engine car is not quite as easy as the Americans think it is.

There's another car that isn't in my budget. As far as looks,,,,, well I'm not sold, maybe if it was red, maybe. Why that wrap? They certaibly didn't copy Euro styling. ( edit, close once I got past that paint or whatever they were trying for) I sent the link to my cousin in Italy and he said he puked up his Skapetti. At 23 years old the 76' L88 Stingray I bought in 78' for $7600.00 was in my budget earning 12K a year. Complete with luggage rack and T top. Sold in 83' for exactly 7600 bucks.

I appreciate the mid-engine and performance sport cars, but at heart I'm a muscle car guy. This pulls the 'Vette out of being a muscle car (which it had been headed for a while). Doesn't mean it's not a nice car - but not what i get the biggest kick out of...

It's funny how our tastes change over the years. Since my very 1st car, a 67' MGB I have always had euro stuff. Even the Ford Capri was Euro. BMW's, Porche, Benx, Triumph, Alfa, Fiat, VW Bug and Audi. The last was a 95' 325i. Then I retired bought a Chevy truck and my wife drove Japanese cars. Now I am looking for a muscle car or a good old Mericun made almost muscle car. Learned to drive in Mom and Dads 65' Chevy Impala. But a 4 door hardtop, 283ci. My ideal car would be a 65' Impala SS. with a big block. Watching Barrett Jackson last week I saw many American, and Canadian on the Thursday that would fit my wants. There was a 65' Impala that came across the blocks but outside my budget. Many nice rides went for 25K or less on the Thursday that I would be proud to own.

Scott, VW did a pretty good job way back in the 30's with air cooled rear engine, then Mr. F. Porche did it. No need to reinvent the wheel, that's what the Japanese do.

VW's would overheat cylinder 3 if the ambient temp was over 90f from the factory. A fan may have cooled a 30hp VW motor in 1936, however suffered as the motor grew. I wouldnt call the VW beetle motor a good job. It was a compromise.

How did I know you wouldn't agree Scott. My Bug never overheated including stop and go Toronto traffic and contrary to popular belief it gets very hot here in southern Ontario.
