Is there a way to exchange the lower unit of the engine to make it like the newer forward facing pentas?

I want to use it to wakesurf but the backwards facing prop seems unsafe.

Don't know of any way, but also don't see how anyone could make contact with the prop while the boat is moving, unless they fall off the bow.

The boat is moving forward all the time, and if the person falls toward the prop, the water will be pushing everything away. Boats have been getting extended platforms so folks don't hit the prop/drive with boat stopped by them jumping in. The B3 and Duroprop stick out a bit more

But hey just my opinion

Nope,.... Those are very, Very different drives,..... Much newer, 'n Nothin' in common with yer's,......

As AD says,... No danger, unless the driver is reversin' the boat at you,.....

Otherwise, the driver would have to run over you with the pointy end of the boat 1st,.....

Btw,...... Welcome Aboard,...... ;)

I mean if I look in the Volvo specs it is literally the same engine. So it can't be all that different.

Your original post gave me the impression you want to take the lower and replace with a forward facing lower, if that's the case I don't see it.

If your wondering if the complete drive can be replaced with a forward type then maybe, but need to talk to a dealer. VP in their brochure indicates it is available on V6 and V8 models, no mention of a 4Cyl

Maybe muc knows something

I guess your right it is only available in the V6 configuration. I was just hoping someone had messed around with a conversion like or similar to this to point me in the direction.

You could still look into it, folks have Bravo 1 and 3 drives on 3 cyl motors. If the transom assembly is the same my guess is it could be just bolted on. Was looking around on Marine Parts Europe and have not even found the forward drive yet, but then again I'm weak in the VP numbering system

If you could get it to fit, I'm thinking might also need to modify the trailer :noidea:

VP came out with them a couple three years ago with the wake surfing craze (something else to make big wakes  )
