I have had a lot of issues with my Evinrude, 6 HP E6REIA -1991 model motor recently, and you guys helped me out immensly. It is now starting good and idling good at a few more RPMs than I would like for a slow, slow troll. (it trolled great last season). I did all that everyone suggested that I do, but a couple questions still. If I just adjust the rPMs at the hamdle control on the motor, it will not run. it coughs, slight backfire and stalls out, then I have to partially choke it to restart her every time.
I just rebuilt and cleaned the carb. It was spotless, but I already bought the kit so I rebuilt it. First question: I did not see a welch plug anywhere. Is this possible or did I miss it somehow? (There was new one in the kit). I cannot get it to slow troll with adjusting the slow speed needle. There are two other screws on the other side of the carb that regulate the little roller for the cam and also opens or closes the throttle up deep inside the carb. 2nd question. Should I attempt to adjust either or both of these two screws at all to lower the idle RPM's???
Thank in advance! .
