I rebuilt a mercruiser 5.0 MAG MPI, and looking for some directions on adjusting the timing. I found several ways of setting this but the engine still doesn't fire after several adjustment. I now have the engine at TDC, so wanted some thoughts from this forum. I previous had fuel pump issue that has been resolved. I also get sparks at the spark plug, so assuming it could be a timing issue. Please help. Engine serial number is -1a316544

If there is no backfiring then its not timing, your not getting any fuel. Should have about 43 psi at the rail

Have you bleed the fuel rail?

with MPI you install the dist at the mark in the dist body, there is no adjusting of the timing The computer does it all

Bleed from the schrader valve on the rail. Turn key a few times till it gets nothing but gas.

Take a very small amount (teaspoon or so) of gas and dribble into the throttle body

That worked..I now have fuel in the railing. I am going to connect all exhaust, and out drive, and then try to fire the engine again. You guys are awesome !
