Anode replace over hydraulic manfold

Want to install anode on sterndrive over the hydraulic manifold, seems to have a plastic cover over it with a wire attached to it do i remove this first?
and discard, ( alpha one Gen 1) 5.7 Mercruiser.
Help. Thanks.

Would like to see a pic to verify, but I would say yes, remove plastic and discard and install anode.

That said, if you don't have a mercathode and don't plug it into shore power then its not going to help much

Sorry for the delay on a reply I really respect your opinions I'm an over-the-road truck driver and cannot get home for a couple days to take pictures but that doesn't really matter I am new at this. and had no clue what a Mercathode was, so I researched it a believe that is probably what it is I've owned this boat 1990 Sea Ray 220 cuddy cabin for three years and the last summer was the first time I left it all summer at a boat slip in the water plugged in thanks so much for your expertise

With all the other zincs on the motor/od, I don't know if it is really necessary. Perhaps u should ask former owner why they removed it. I have seen several ODs that had and a number that didn't.
