That's very cool, you put the juice in the bank and withdraw as needed.
Yep...they even call it the bank on my electric bill. The excess even pays the baseline connect fee so the bill is zero. The payback is around 5 years where I live. I am also insulated against future rate hikes which essentially makes the payback a little sooner.

I am lucky that I am with a city run electric company. People that are with PGE, SCE don't get the one to one reimbursement so they would have to go with a battery system that basically doubles the payback period.

I do not like the auto dimming headlights
On my Rivian, it doesn't really have auto dimming. The Rivian has adaptive headlights which means the headlight is made up of multiple pixels so it only lowers the brightness of the pixels aiming toward the oncoming vehicle or pedestrian, so you still have full power for the pixels aimed at the road in front of you. I had my doubts about it before I drove the car but it works remarkably well.

How does the adaptive headlights work for the person looking at them? Maybe it’s just me getting older but I seem to meet a lot of newer vehicles that are a hazard because their headlights are so bright that I can’t see the pavement in front of me nor the white line to follow on the right. No way for me to know if the driver is just an a-hole or if the new technology is for the benefit of those driving behind it with a total disregard for oncoming traffic.

After 7 years of not working. The rear view mirror is sometimes dimming during the daytime. Randomly.

after driving with the adaptive cruise control, I find myself overriding it a lot with the accelerator, as it brakes too long and takes too much time to speed back up especially when in heavy traffic.
The distance it uses for its activating need to be shorter.

I can tell when a car is coming that the lights shining towards that car are dimmed considerably. Can't say I have been on the receiving end of the Rivian headlights and it would have to be Gen 2 which started in late 2024.

It is adjustable in the in the vehicle controls.
my preliminary run through didn't show I could, but haven't had time to investigate further. I have the base model, so I may not be able to, menu is limited.

My Ram has 2 cruise buttons, Reg and Adaptive. The Adaptive has buttons above and below to change distance. The set, resume etc buttons are around the regular cruise

Th Honda always assumes the worst and slows down the car if a side street AGGRESSIVE driver gets to close to your lane ahead of you. It will lift you out of your seat to stop. We always wear the belts for safe fast stops......You can not play CHICKEN with a aggressive side street car. O K

You mean like the people that get their home subsidized by being able to write off their interest?

I don't have kids so I guess I am subsidizing everyone else's kids education.

The display on the truck is acting up again, starting to miss my 2021
Constant "loading tomtom" with split screen, but press Nav button and it goes full screen and works fine. No actual buttons just a touch screen is a safety issue

Biggest dislikes lately....... Parts for newer vehicles NLA.

On a few of the other forums I frequent the issue is rampant across most American made vehicles

HMI screens NLA (no aftermarket support either)
Instrument screens failing and NLA
Air bag sensors for 15+ year old vehicles NLA. Dual mass flywheels NLA
Shocks for my daily whip NLA
Alternators NLA
Air filter elements NLA

If low level parts are NLA, what makes anyone think the vehicle tech that is being pushed will be supported
