The sacrificial gear in the drive lasts about 6 months now. The original went 35 years but the replacements aren't as good a quality it seems. What's wrong with the kitchenaid.
Or that aint the real issue .... post actual compression readings and serial #The sacrificial gear in the drive lasts about 6 months now. The original went 35 years but the replacements aren't as good a quality it seems.
Yeah we got one for MIL a few years back and she never used it so we took it and it absolutely does not compare to mine which is circa 1997.The sacrificial gear in the drive lasts about 6 months now. The original went 35 years but the replacements aren't as good a quality it seems.

Yeah. The unit itself is 89 or 91 but they definitely changed the material on the replacement gears. I've been looking at getting a true pro model or gear drive unit. Not like im beating the crap out of it though.Yeah we got one for MIL a few years back and she never used it so we took it and it absolutely does not compare to mine which is circa 1997.
Some peeps will always try to re-invent the wheel.Another observation... anyone else have an old recipe they always go to? I've noticed, and had this conversation with my girl, that the old ones just plain work. Like cream puffs... the one I have is 40 years old. I've tried various ones on the internet with mixed results then found this one in an old recipe book and like first time bang on every time after too.
Were they just tested better or did the people writing it have a better understanding of the intricacies of it? Because that one is far from simple but does things in such a way that makes it more trivial than some other ones. Just a thought.
No doubt, My wife’s grandparents on both sides were strict mennonites. For being “ plain” food those women cooked up some great meals, especially desserts. Kim has a pile of recipes of theirs.I really only use cookbooks as "idea" books, but my favorite cookbook is a Mennonite Cookbook from the 50's. There are some slamming recipes in that book ... and everything is from scratch. Love it.
