Yes it's good. I found out the bad way it works and have tested it since. But this reminds me of another problem with this job, that sensor is no longer available if I damage it (0386686 - Temperature Switch).
I believe lots go with the one wire and eliminate the quick start feature but there may be a few out there.

Cheers.

External ground and yes it would seem it's not available.

Never ran across that. Seems brp is cutting back. Look for the aftermarket freaks to come out of the woodwork or lots of used ones.

You could always go with a gauge but put in a big giant blinding red light if you do.

Audible is best though. I put in aftermarket horns and check them very frequently.

Cheers

this little gizmo could ground the tan wire for a few seconds on longer(choose) at key on to confirm the warning buzzer works.. of course if the engine sensor goes South on its own ...then you may end up the creek ...
Basicallya beeper timer like ETEC tach beeps at start up :)

Actually I was thinking about using this, but I'm not sure if the sensor leads can be extended.

The black and yellow wire are energized if the temperature is out of range. I can hook that up to the existing siren, and as an added bonus you can monitor the exact operating temperature.

whatevert works and brings peace of mind.

one of these is even simpler ..one side to ground & one side on TAN and bolt it up ona flat spot or use heat paste used in electronic board for heat sinking.

That switch with internal ground was used for about 40 years.---Many different models.-----Should be easy to find a used one.

my large patio door lock poped out .. I went to the most reputable local locksmith shop to be told they could not fix it or find parts for my discontinued brand of patio doors :-(
Close examination of the key barrel assembly showed a small ridge all around .
One single .75 inch C clip solved the problem...

Cool stuff guys and I hear you, customers Viking gas stove door became loose, local viking repair man came and said "you need a new stove/oven....$12,000"

Pulled the door and put a pop rivet were a spot weld was.

Wat what?

They love me!

Most repair people come with a laptop but 0 common sense.

Wouldn’t blame it on the kids.. blame it on the education system that decided vocational education was a waste time and money.

My high school had auto repair, auto body, welding, electronics, cosmetology, agriculture and Business related training. Many people, myself included, took these skills and made a good living from them.

Not an OB topic but all interetsing. What I see lacking in " some" kids is the lack of passion on any subject ...enough to build a profound interest and learn skills and knowledge to achive their "passion" derived careers.

Personnally what got me going were electrons... :) it got me goint servicing central office telecom ept. then large LD private corporate network trouble shooting and finished 40y with 7 years Toll fraud investigations. Nothing was so satisfying as detecting and cutting off dopes pumping calls overseas.

Bottom line, imho, kids need to start loving something and not flood their minds with TikTok bovine stuff.

JMHO :) back to OBs

It'll be interesting to see how AI and robotics will effect the trades. Industrial trades I can see robotics taking a nice bite out of things like welding, especially with the new laser welding. Residential I don't see much change. I know my job wont exist in 15 years. I'm not even sure what to tell my kids to do. They don't listen to me anyway so I guess it doesn't matter.
