Hello, New member. Assistance Please and tks

You're welcome. And I am FAR from being an expert...I'm a rookie owner myself; I've ran and driven many boats of all kinds over the years, but only as a driver, never an owner/operator. But the guys on this forum have already taught me a lot, and everyone is super willing to give guidance. It's...

Hello, New member. Assistance Please and tks

Knowing what I know now (because of this forum), I wouldn't have bought my boat (it was a unexpected gift from my wife) and it was only $600 USD. If I had known she was looking to buy me a used boat, I would've done all of my research upfront and quickly passed on it. LUCKILY my paperwork issues...

    Not repair related...yet...Johnson 70ELCNB

Thanks! I have a Johnson service and repair manual that I found and downloaded, I'll look and see if I can find an owner/operator manual as well.

    Not repair related...yet...Johnson 70ELCNB

I'm planning on draining the tank regardless of what's in it. Is there any tell-tale signs/symptoms that show if it has been run on straight fuel instead of mix?

    Not repair related...yet...Johnson 70ELCNB

My boat has a 1982 Johnson 70hp J70ELCNB 2 cycle motor. I'm in the process of rehabbing everything so I haven't had it in the water, or running, or anything yet (it's the first boat I've owned if you don't count my Polaris Jet Ski as a boat). So...here is my dumb rookie question...Where do I put...

    boat wont start

Glad you sorted it out! I mentioned the lanyard because the last time we went out, I had moved from the helm to adjust the bimini top and pulled the kill switch, when I sat back down to fire up the engines, they of course wouldn't turn over. After a few minutes with no luck, and the kids...

    Vinyl Seats Bubbling Up

It's weird, for sure. That was the only thing I could think of it possibly being. But, sometimes, manufacturers make bad product. Maybe the vinyl maker pumped out a bad batch?

    Vinyl Seats Bubbling Up

That's what it looks like to me too. The 3rd picture especially...looks like someone had some kind of oil or lotion on and it reacted poorly with the vinyl. Which, IMO, shouldn't happen either...it's a boat. The seating should be made to withstand contact with sunblock and the like...unless it...

Newbie owner looking for boat specific details

Update: Project is still on hold because of other life events and Mother Nature (I swear, if I have a free moment, that's the same exact moment the skies open up; my garage can't get built soon enough). Something that had been bothering me from the get go: paperwork. My wife bought this...

    boat wont start

As with any troubleshooting: ALWAYS look for the easiest thing to fix first and go uphill from there...so, that being said...does your engine have a kill switch/lanyard? If so, is the lanyard installed? It's often easy to forget and overlook little things like that...I've forgotten my kill...

Bunk board replacement with HDPE? Yea or nay?

So would you say a 1/2" slotted screw hole would be sufficient?

Bunk board replacement with HDPE? Yea or nay?

Awesomesauce. This boat is going to be a dream to load/unload. I'll be able to launch just by looking at it sternly, especially after I get the hull buffed out.

Bunk board replacement with HDPE? Yea or nay?

Thanks, Scott! I did notice that even with it being about an inch thick, it still has a bit of flex to it. So if I use lumber for a base, I could top it with the HDPE instead of carpet?

Bunk board replacement with HDPE? Yea or nay?

So, I'm working on rehabbing a 16' 1990 Thundercraft bow rider that my wife bought me as a gift...that project is on another thread. What I found during my inspection of everything once it got home was that the trailer needs some TLC too (insert surprised face). There are supposed to be carpeted...

    Are Adhesive Keel Guards Effective?

What length would y'all recommend? I've got one on my shopping list for my 16' bowrider, but not sure how long I should get.

    Plywood floor replacement...Questions

Dude...they are just looking out for your safety and the safety of anyone who gets aboard your boat. I have a very similar project. Everyone in this thread has commented on it and given me advice. That I plan on implementing. I've placed my project on a bit of a hold while I gather materials...

Washing interior with boat in slip/water?

I'm thinking a waxed deck would be like putting Armor All on your car's leather seats...hope you got some good grab handles!

Mine was carpeted too...it was pretty grody in there. I quickly decided that that was not well thought out by the manufacturer and am opting to do truck bed liner in there.

Oh, nice! I like this idea, thanks for sharing! Now, if it would stop raining so I can get to work, that'd be fantastic...I'm trying to get this thing ready before August.
