    Bow/Docking lights on a StarCraft?

On my old duckboat I ran a 12in lightbar for pre daytime operations, it worked really well and I could take it off when not in use. It is against coast guard regs, but as long as you are nice about it around here you wont have a problem. I know lots of other hunters and fisherman who run them.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Good news, installed the starter and it turns the motor over. Now to run it down to the river to see if it actually fires up and runs. Then do a link and sync.

From one problem to another... Solenoid was indeed bad, its been replaced and I am now getting 12V to starter. However, Starter is not functional. Ordered a new one, and I am expecting it today (as promised) or tomorrow (more likely).

    Tilt Trailer -- How Effective?

I had one on a 14ft Klamath boat that I used for duck hunting and such here in Oregon (lots of coastal bays/estuaries/rivers with unimproved launches) and it was helpful as I could just about pull up anywhere legal and drop and retrieve the boat. I don't know how useful it would be for you...

Does my engine have a problem? Or is this normal behavior?

I have heard (but dont take my word for it) that 2 strokes dont like running at low RPM for a while and they will build up oil in the cylinders. I have always been told that for 2 strokes you can run them at low to mid idle but you need to spend some time at WOT to really clean out the...

Regarding voltage drop, I haven't been able to accurately test with the starter working since its not getting full voltage. There is no drop when measured while cranking (12.87V) but the starter is only getting 6.5+/- volts which I don't think is enough to move it. The wiring from the OB to...

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Battery is a new, group 27, interstate marine starting battery from Costco (would have to look at the CCA's as I don't remember what they are), was at 12.87 volts when the coil issue was found. Battery is under splashwell and is 4ga copper wire that is about 4.5 feet long (from my memory, the...

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

found the first issue, a broken splice from one of the power cables from the ignition (probably bad work by myself). Now that that’s fixed, looks like the solenoid is the culprit, it clicks but it’s only putting out 6.5 volts to the starter.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

I ended up changing the impeller and lower unit fluid on the main, so I decided to try to fire it up and..... nothing. The outboard didn't turn over or even make a sound. The choke makes a sound so I am assuming its operational, but now its back to diagnosis. I was too tired to do a proper...

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

A buddy has a friend who made it, came out really nice. It was missed that I wanted it to be under deck so he made it to be above deck mounted. Double barbed: That's how it was originally and so that's what I went with. I can see doing it either way but figured this would be the best (but...

Fuel system is in place, now onto lower unit oil changes, impeller Change on the main, oil change on the kicker (impeller back ordered) then a sea trial.

Fixed the tilt/trim, culprit was a broken wire on the OEM harness. I may have pulled it when I stripped it to lengthen the OEM harness. Checked all the other wires just to make sure and they all had voltage moving through. Now onto plumbing the fuel system. After that will hopefully be a...

Yes, igloo cooler cushions are great and less than 150 for three of them. The blue is the one not working at the moment, the green has movement. My understanding on the TnT is the same as yours. I am going to check the harness at the motor to make sure everything is hooked up as it should...

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Been working on random stuff. Installed new cushions to the front of the console. Built a swing back bench for the helm. I am working out a bug with the trim of the main… it works going downward but not going up. Power at switch when switched but nothing at the motor. Will be pulling up a...

    Ease of towing larger boat

In my state (OR) boats in that range need oversize permits due to their width (as others have said). Not a big deal but there are restrictions on when you can legally tow your boat.

Replacement Tires for dual axle trailer?

I agree, I have Carlisle radial trail HD tires on my heavy travel trailer (10K+pds) and my previous trailer. They have been great tires so far with great wear and tracking. Get them balanced if you do any long trips but otherwise they rock.

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

I have those on my mariner, looks like someone replaced the SS nut with a steel nut. as others have said, they are a pain to get to. Me personally I would replace the nuts if possible (I don't think they will do much damage as long as they aren't touching the hull).

You are lucky, I don't have under seat fuel storage, but I also have a 17 gallon tank. I am going to do something of a similar design just using more wood (as I have it on hand). I am going to use aluminum and HDPE (or similar material) for the seatback.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Building a flip flop seat as well, its going to be about 32x16 using leftover deck pieces and an igloo cooler cushion for the seat. I am using other igloo cooler cushions for the front, should have those put on by the weekend. I like that the cushions have snaps and are cheaper than having...
