Thanks for the response. The shift rod shape changed on the 1986 it has a double bend with the end in the vertical. I will check the operation. Thanks.

Hi Faztbullet. Your assistance got me in the right direction. Looks like this lower is probably 78 115 or that series. Do you think that with the shift shaft swopped that this unit would fit the 86 110.

Hi Faztbullet. Have an '86 110 with a badly ice cracked lower unit. I happen to have this keyed lower unit of unknown year and had in mind to swop the shift rod and fit it. From what you say it may not be a match after all. Thanks for coming to my aid once again.

    Never come across this situation.

I have what appears to be a V4 lower unit. Measurements say it will fit. However the drive shaft is cut for a woodruff key. I need an impeller and can only find the plastic lobe type or the metal round type. Help please!

    Pontoon drains

Some time ago I had my aluminum welding guy fit blocks and plugs to match. We used NPT threaded Brass plugs with PTFE thread tape. Is it possible that you need NPT plugs.

Most grateful for your input. Tried Napa but they can't get it or the Loctite product which is supposed to be similar. I'll find some. Thanks again.

I used to use OMC sealant until it got too expensive then I switched to Perfect Seal. I see now that Perfect Seal is not available. Can you tell me the replacement? Thanks.

2000 150 john 60* shuts down on take off.

Thanks Chris1956. I know that I am getting old when I miss things like this. There are no high speed jets in the bowls!! The owner told me that he had changed the bowls. He also told me, when I asked him, that it had never run after the change. Duh. Of course he has thrown away the old bowls...

2000 150 john 60* shuts down on take off.

Comps all good. Idles great and revs in the barrel. Idles on load but shuts down on take off. Sparks good with new coil bank and power pack. I believe this smacks of a fuel shortage problem. Checked the fuel filter at the assembly, all clean. Fuel gushes out when prime bulb squeezed. New prime...

1997 Evinrude SPL90 2 Stroke V4 dripping oil/gas down front of shaft from case

Correct, no adjustments on those carbs. Remove the air box. Use a spray bottle with fuel oil mix in it and spray some into the carb intakes while cranking the motor. If she fires and runs while spraying you probably have a carb or fuel supply issue.

Not difficult to pull the cylinder head to inspect the suspect cylinder. You may just have a bad cylinder head gasket.

1997 Evinrude SPL90 2 Stroke V4 dripping oil/gas down front of shaft from case

My 97 90 SPL has aluminum bowls. Sounds like a good wash out would be in order and the usual compressions and sparks tests.
