    Women. Got to love them!

My better half was in the States for a couple of days, and came home yesterday. As always I gave her my shopping list. I had asked her to bring me some Sea Foam, and we need new PFD's. She called, and said she had bought both. Usually she calls first, and then buys, but she only had one day...

    HP & Torq. Two questions.

Is a older 6hp really more equivalent to a modern 4hp, in it's power output at the prop? Do de-rated motors in general have more torq than a non de-rated motor of equal horsepower rating?

    Thank you iboats!

Thank you iboats, and the forum members who have answered my dumb question with patience and expertise (I am sure they won't be the last). Without you guys and gals, I am not sure I would have had the motivation to do this one the right way. The Bundesrepublik Deutschland Wasser- und...

    Flying Bayliner!

If god had meant for 24' Bayliners to fly , he would have given them wings. Well he didn't, so Harry Larsen did. Check out his hydrofoil “in action” video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w54-OEWulDE&feature P.S. Sorry wake boarders, no wake! :D

Looking for “Yellow Jacket” boat owners ...

I grew up in the small town where these boats were made, and always wanted to restore one just for fun. A future project. Are there any Yellow Jacket owners out there in iboat land? What have your experiences been? How hard are they to find nowadays? Is there a way to see how many boats...

    What is “Niro Steel”

What is “Niro Steel”, and why did I just buy so much of it? IIIIEEEEEE!!!! My little boat has now just increased it's rebuild cost by 30%! Anything that comes in direct contact with the water is now “Niro Steel”, everything else is "Stainless Steel". Was this necessary...

    Lean <–> Rich adjustment question

1981 Evinrude 6HP I bought this motor recently and it seems to run well, but I have not had a chance to test it in the wild (boat is not finished yet, but getting closer). So up to now all short test have been done in a drum. My naive question. Lean <–> Rich adjustment. How do I know it...

UH OH! The boat is missing!

One weekend when we were young, my friends parents were gone. We had planned a long weekend camping trip (did it almost every weekend, so no big deal) on lake Texoma (Texas side). They had an old aluminum V-Hull fishing boat with a recently blown motor. We asked another friends dad if we could...

Maybe I should be stupid more often!

Bought a new gas line for my outboard the other day, hooked it up, and wanted to barrel test it on the balcony. Spent 15 minutes cranking & squishing the ball on the line, but couldn't get it to feed the motor gas. Took the line in the tank off and checked it, checked both gas filters, made...

Oil Types – what can be used in two strokes.

I have in the past used Castrol Racing, or LIQUI MOLY Racing, full synthetic two stroke oil, all with a TC-W111 rating. My neighbor just gave me :D a couple of liters of LIQUI MOLY semi-synthetic two stroke oil, with these ratings listed: API-TC, ISO L-EGC, SCC TSC-3. Can this safely be used...

Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats – Recommendations Please

My mother and step father are looking for a new "Rigid Hull" inflatable. It should have a good resale value, high quality & a good name. Maximum 6 passengers, but mostly used by two. 50% fishing, 50% cruising/exploring (or both at the same time). Usage would be probably 45% large rivers...

    My finished boat project

It has been a long time since I rebuilt a boat. I was fifteen at the time and it was a total rebuild and took an entire summer. But it worked, looked good, and I was happy. Happy to be finished. I should have picked something smaller at the time to start with, but I learned a lot. Always...

    Boating Safety this holiday weekend!

We are once again coming upon a holiday weekend and for those living near a body of water, this will inevitably be followed up by headlines of boating accidents and highway (towing) deaths. When talking about safety, it is often reduced to equipment issues. Equipment that comes into play after...

    de-rated 6HP Evinrude?

I have a de-rated, horse power reduced 1981, 6HP Evinrude made in Belgium according to a search of Evinrude model numbers. Visually it has the details of the 7.5HP (no 6HP was sold in the US in 1981) sold Stateside for this year, and not the 4.5. In Germany 6HP (where I bought it) is the upper...

Evinrude Model Numbers - can anyone help?

Can anyone help me with this model number? E6BFCIC It was built in Belgium. I came up with Evinrude 6HP, 1981, what does the BF mean, and the C on the end is confusing me a little. The BRP website doesn't list it (that I can find anyway). Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance!

    Seafoam?

Seafoam? I'll keep this one short. What is it. Does it work. How do you use it? Are there times, situations, or motors, where it shouldn't be used? When should you use it, if at all? Thanks for any help, and sorry if this topic has already been addressed elsewhere.
