    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Ok now I'm closing in on the problems! It appears that the total throw on the shaft going into the gearbox coupler is only 10mm from full forward to reverse! That means I'm missing 3mm, almost the 4 mm needed to fully engage either forward or reverse. The day it skipped gears I tried adjusting...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

I think you are correct about the 4mm travel front and back being full throw, I must have made some small mistakes when I tested before final assembly. But I'm okay with making the curve cutout on the shift lever, I know now that it will not interfere with the plunger if for some reason I was...

Pimping my Chrysler 65hp, thoughts and ideas

Thanks, no the tiger is just something I found online available as a decal. But the inspiration is from the 70' Chrysler brochures were they use different tigers in their brochures. I wanted something not to detailed with a simple line to it, and with some colors to give the whole thing some...

Pimping my Chrysler 65hp, thoughts and ideas

I agree, life is short and it is cool to have something nobody else have. I just finished the painting of the lower leg and ran into some trouble with the clear coat. It turned all milky on the silver part. Luckily it cleared up for the most part, still have 2 or 3 spot on one side, I hope they...

Force 125 1986, hole in front of lower unit weeping oil

No muffs won't create that much pressure unless you have a 100% seal and high pressure in the tap, but I would say the seals are bad. If you only ran on muffs and still got water in the box it's either the o-ring on the prop spool and / or driveshaft seal. These are the ones under pressure when...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

It's strange you have more throw with the shift rod turned 2 turns out! Could that be the small protrusion of the threads making contact with the clutch dog plunger? Did you feel for any resistance when applying pressure on the shift shaft? Otherwise it should be the same regardless if it's all...

Force 125 1986, hole in front of lower unit weeping oil

I don't know if the same, but I have several small holes in the ventilation plate venting the inside of the leg I guess. If the gearbox is full and you trim it up, oil would leak out of the shift shaft seal and the main oil seal under the water pump if they are toast. But if you have a hole...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Ok if you have 4mm measured on the shift shaft then it's the same and my initial problems must have been a misaligned prop shaft, not allowing the shifter full forward action. Did you receive a new "spacer"? Or are you using one from a spare unit?

Force 125 (1987) shift pivot screw leaking

If you pull the screw you must lay the lower leg on it's side and be extremely careful. You don't want the shift lever inside to fall off. I did it yesterday on my newly completed gearcase, and as long as the shift rod is in place and the shift lever is connected to the yoke inside the leg you...

    Low Compression on Cylinder #2

In my experience water doesn't do any damage to cylinder or piston when running. But carbon build up could seize the ring, making it catch the port opening. A piece of carbon could fall of and lodge itself under the ring or the port. It could even be something else being sucked in. Could even be...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

The numbers ad up! I also tried measuring from when the gear start to touch to fully engaged and I have around 3,5-4mm now. So it seems I have a little more positive engagement. Or if I'm correct, double almost! It could be something else going on in my system, but I felt that the forward didn't...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Thanks Nordin... I'm really stressed right now! After tightening the pinion nut I went ahead and put in the prop shaft and the yoke. Then I tried to engage the gears and to my horror the forward gear would only engage lightly if at all. It could have something to do with the shaft not being...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Just finished painting the prop spool and about to install the pinion and driveshaft. However I have stumbled across some conversion issues. The Chrysler service manual calls for 600 inch lbs and if I'm correct that's 67.8nm, not a lot! The Seloc manual calls for 85 ft lbs or 116 nm, almost...

Voids found after new transom install

When you wrote " have lost perspective" I knew exactly what you meant and if nobody stops you, it spirals out of control. That's me :) My boat was a cheap junk 13" and all things done so far is way over the top.

    Low Compression on Cylinder #2

That sound like a good deal! Is it oversize pistons? Maybe find a machine shop and have them look at it to determine what oversize you should be ordering. Maybe have them chamfer the ports at the same time, I know I would do it when in there! And like Jerry said, try and figure out why it...

Another Guy With Force 120 Issue

Hmmm I don't think it's caused by a lean condition anymore. The color on the deposit on the pistons look fairly similar. I can't see any immediate failure on the head gasket, but it's hard to tell from pictures. The fact you had an oiled bolt and corresponding wetting at roughly the same spot on...

Another Guy With Force 120 Issue

First, did you clean the plugs after taking them out? Or did you change their position earlier. The one on the left seems odd compared to the others, and the others seems strangely clean on the surface? The sensor could be faulty, but you do know now there's a difference and need to fix that...
