What do you use for headlights

I navigated 6 miles last night with only a 1/4 moon for light. We used the gps and went really slow. We still wound up accidentally beached at one point. I want to know what ya'll use. A Handheld spotlight? 12v Headlights? What do you use?

    J150GLEIS Flywheel cover

Can the area that covers the starter on the flywheel cover be cut off without causing any problems. Most motors I've looke at you can actually see the armature engage. It bugs me that it is encased by the flywheel cover in case I ever need to rewind or mess with it.

    91 J150GLEIS Stranded

Let me say right up front that I don't know alot about motors of any kind. Motor was warmed up already (we'd been out for hours)Starter turned quickly but wouldn't start motor. Motor didn't even sound like it was trying to start. I pulled the cowling and pulled on the throttle arm while my wife...

    J150 Intermittent Annoyance when off

Hi. Twice now I have turned my motor off and a noise continues to come from the motor. When it is making this noise it won't restart. On both occasions, after switching the key back and forth several times it has stopped and then I'm on my way. Since it hasn't left me stranded for too long yet...

    Photobucket pics appear large

I need help with photobucket. I edit my pictures to 320 x 240. and "replace original". When I attach them to an Iboats post they appear nearly screen size. I know that's an annoyance and against rules so does anyone know how to fix it? Most pictures after a few days or hours are resized. I guess...

Stringer good or bad? few pics

I got the boat out today and while on the water I started thinking about that soft spot up front that I've tried so desperately to ignore due to the difficulty involved in lifting the cap on this particular Center Console. With a little help from ya'll, I'd could ace the stringers if need be...

    Repair Ideas on seat

So I broke a seat today. It is useable if the boat isn't moving but unsafe while cruising. I had some upholstery redone in the front of the boat last week and kinda liked the idea of builing a wide "leaning post" (big enough for three)and having it canvased . I could mount it to these posts and...

Pontoons and CC's seem to hold value better

I have noticed over the past months as I browse boats on Craigslist that Pontoon and Center console owners want the most for their boats relative to the others. Even the crappiest project pontoons ask $1800 and ancient CC's often list for $3500 and up. Anyone else notice this or have a clue as...

    Picture of plexiglass bending

The pros offered a price of $150 for an 1/8" replacement of my cracked 1/4" CC windsheild. I found this piece of 1/4" so I felt I had nothing to lose but everything to gain by trying it on my own. So in truth, regardless of what you've been told, thick plexi can be bent 90 degrees nearly as...

    Moving transducer closer to keel

I have noticed that at any planing speed I loose visabililty on my 383c Humminbird. Just a bunch of distortion. I've incresaed noise filter and decreased surface clutter settings. Still not satisfied. I have looked over the transom while moving and can see the transducer so I think it should be...

    Speedometer failing-Stuck at 20

My boat with 91 150hp faststrike has the original Speedometer. That makes it about 17 years old. It has suddenly stopped working consistently. We noticed first that the gps said we were cruising 35 and the speedo said 20. I slowed the boat to a stop and the reading was same. We took off again...

    Bias tires OK for trailering?

I need new tires QUICK to replace my rotten ones. Around here, a 175/80/13 runs $86 for the tire alone. I found a website that sells an bias tire/wheel combo for $67 and a Radial for $108. The boat gets towed about 300 miles a month. I need 4 tires . $268 biases versus $432 radial. What do...

    King Mackeral recipes?

I got alot of fish out the Gulf in July when we went to Galveston. The Snappers were delicious and so were the Sharks, but the Kingfish-not so good. I've tried all of the recipes on the net and they're all worthless. Does anyone know how to cook these things? I've still got 4 large freezerbags...

a Few Hurricane Ike boat Pics

I know that loss of property is nothing compared to loss of life, but here are some pictures that I think would a make anyone sad (Especialy an insurance adjuster). So far, only a few deaths have been liked to Ike. We stayed at the Hampton Inn directly across from this Marina/ Dealer in...

Leak Patch which way is good enough?

I found my leak that has been bothering me so bad. It's covered by a bunker so I had to pull boat onto trailer off level to find it. I have not used any electrical sounding device to check for softness, or hired a proffesional, and I don't plan to. I tapped everywhere and it sounds real solid...

How to find if boat is one of a kind or rare

Does anyone know how to find out how many units were produced of a particular boat. Mine was made by a small company called Arlington Special Editions no longer in existence. No mention on the net of this company other than on MIC database. Since it was made locally could TPW be any assistance?

    WOT RPM Question

This is my 2nd boat and want to keep it running right, but I'm no engine expert, so I have a small question about RPMs. My 1991 150hp Johnson recently had the prop repitched to fix a cavitation issue. It worked. I can plane out and trim out a good bit and see rpms of about 5500-5600. I think...
