    Does anyone use "Trailerlock"

Just curious if anyone here uses "TrailerLock" to deter trailer theft(www.trailerlock.com). It looks intriguing, but does it really work? Hard to use? Is there something newer and better? Thanks.

    2007 Recreational Boaters Act

Has anyone heard of the 2007 Recreational Boaters Act and what might be its current status? Brief background (and this is second hand, so forgive me): Apparently the EPA had Congress pass a law years ago whereby anyone or any company owning vessels that produced bilge water would need to pay...

    Puzzle for electrician

I'm trying to replace a standard 15 amp 125 volt duplex wall outlet where the top socket is tied to a wall switch. The switch no longer has any effect. Both the upper and lower sockets are always "on". I reinstalled the old outlet to see if I was dreaming, and the switch worked fine. Is...

    Request opinion: Alumacraft Trophy

I've narrowed my boat choices down to the final three, and the Alumacraft Trophy 175 is one of them. If any of you have one (or the 185), I'd be real interested in your opinion of the boat. Pros? Cons? Likes? Dislikes? What power are you using? Many thanks in advance for your responses.

Yamaha fresh water flush on newer engines

I noticed in the Yamaha website under their in-line 4-strokers that the 115hp and 150hp features a device to flush the motor without the need to run the engine. Cool!! Does anyone have this feature? How does it work? Like it?

    Pricing new boats, motors, trailers

We all know how easy it is to get MSRP and so-called "invoice" prices for new cars and trucks, right? Is there anywhere in the web where we can find similar information for new boats, motors and trailers? Seems like everywhere I turn I run into "Call for price".

    Boat show season approaching

For those of you who have actually bought, or are thinking of buying, a new boat... Are boat shows good places to get smart deals? If so, what kind of tips would you give to novices like me who are looking to buy their first powerboat? I love a good deal if it can be had. On the flip side...

    1750 Fisherman & Merc 115 hp

I'm considering a new Lund Fisherman 1750. Package deals are pretty much limited to Merc motors. The 1750 is rated at 135 hp. I'd like a standard 4-stroke (not Verado), but I think Merc only builds those up to 115 hp. Not looking at setting any speed records, but still want something to help...

How to protect OB motor from theft

I've enjoyed reading various posts in iBoats forums about protecting trailers from theft, but have found little regarding how to protect an outboard motor from getting ripped off. There appear to be all sorts of devices out there for trailers, but what can one use for motors?

    Mix and match boat packages

Here's a question that might get this newby in trouble, but here goes anyway... Let's say you want to buy a particular brand and model boat, but the company that makes it is owned by a company that also owns another company that builds outboard motors. Let's say the name of the boat company is...

    How to determine weights

I'm still doing research before plunking down the bucks for a boat next year. Wow, what an experience. It seems that getting an answer to one question leads to another two or three. Anyway, my question today is this: How do you measure the weight of your trailered rig? And how do you...

Lund boats - How to justify price

I've been shopping aluminum boats for the past month or so, even so far as to take factory tours at Lund, Crestliner and Alumcraft. The question I have is why does Lund cost so much more than the others? I mean, we're talking a premium of around 10 percent. One would think the answer would...

    Alumacraft bow rider?

Do any of you Alumacraft fans know if they build a 16 or 17 foot sport fisher with full windshield and an open bow that converts between fishing and pleasure boating? In other words, does the panel in the middle of the bow ahead of the center window open up so one can sit on the sides with...

This vehicle ok to tow with?

I've lived boat free all of my life, but all that is about to change come next January when the Boat Show comes to Minneapolis. I have 1,001 questions in anticipation of the day when I take the new boat out for the first time, so have been spending literally hours reading this forum which has...

How many have taken Safe Boating Course?

I'm new to boating. Truth is, I'm so new I don't even have a boat yet. I have had this dream, however, for many years; and I plan to act on it before I get too old to enjoy it. Will probably make the plunge at the upcoming boat show in Minneapolis this coming winter. Anyway, there's a pretty...
