470 Risers. Where can I find new ones?

Update, They had 2 pc in stock. I just ordered them and feel kinda beaten up over the price but hopefully I'll never need to replace these again and can clean up my old ones, sell them and recoup some money.

Mercruiser 3.7 (470) wont turn all the way

I've owned twin 3.7's for almost 10 years now. I've done the usual maintenance and they've served me well. I don't see any reason to claim their worse than any other similar powerplant. In actuality I'd say their better than anything in the market for the size, weight and design.

Already have. No bueno on Sierra, Oscor or GLM.

Mercruiser 3.7 (470) wont turn all the way

3.0 won't match the power the 3.7 produces. As far as the fact you claim of it breaking in the near future, that only holds true to the person who doesn't maintain their vessel.

470 Risers. Where can I find new ones?

Anyone know where I can purchase 2 risers for my 470? I cannot seem to find anyone who has them new. I need the ones for the aluminum manifold (P/N 98562A6) apologies to the mods if this is in the wrong thread

Engine dies going R to N

The spring that allows the kill switch to be activated might have weakened. I've removed mine, stretched the spring to give it more resistance and had luck in that helping my stalling issues. However, you do need to have the shift system adjusted correctly in the first place.

Dies when throttling up from idle after warm up/ 89 merc 3.7 2bbl

If it was me, I'd swap out the points and coil for a pertronix setup. It's a quick and inexpensive upgrade. Like I wrote earlier, I've upgraded both my motors and have been pleased with the results. Buy the matched set and see if it solves the issue. At least if it doesn't you still have...

Dies when throttling up from idle after warm up/ 89 merc 3.7 2bbl

I agree. I switched both my 3.7s about 6 years ago and glad I did. You definitely get easier starting and I'm not screwing around with points anymore. I do keep an extra module on board because I've heard they aren't reliable but it's been 6 seasons and I haven't had any issues

Dies when throttling up from idle after warm up/ 89 merc 3.7 2bbl

You've got a bad connection or crimp somewhere I'm betting. Spend some time checking for corroded or loose connections.

Quick question on mercruiser alpha one gen 1 gimbal bearing grease seal

I believe the flat side goes towards the bow. It's easier to install with the lip facing you when you tap it in with a seal press. I could be wrong but I don't think it makes a difference either way.

Shift Interrupt causing engine cut out in bit forward and reverse.

This is something I left out in my last post. The stalling issue only started after I replaced the shift seals. When I did it, I did it to both my drives at the same time. The seal change introduced the stalling issue because it caused extra resistance in the lower shift cable. This extra...

Mercruiser 470 Coolant Loss and Milkshake Oil

I'm an EE. My brother in law is a chemical Engineer for Shaw industries and I wouldn't let him work on my boat based on a degree from a school. These guys here have everyday knowledge on these specific models. Some or none of them may or may not have an Engineering degree but I do and I come...

Mercruiser 470 Coolant Loss and Milkshake Oil

Reading this makes me draw the conclusion that you're doing something wrong. This issue sounds almost 100% certain it's the front Cam seals/speedi sleeve replacement are the culprit. I'd stop screwing around and check that. If is not the issue you might as well do it anyway because it's gonna...

Shift Interrupt causing engine cut out in bit forward and reverse.

I've been having stalling issues on both my alpha ones(twin screw) over the years and drawn this conclusion after scratching my head attempting to solve it. I was able to just about eliminate stalling after I did this to the shift plate. The spring that keeps the kill switch centered fatigues...

Coil is getting hot 3.0 Mercruiser

I'd suspect the pertronix module would be failing. The coil is just a winding of wire. It's going to either work or not. The fact it's getting hot would lead me to believe it's drawing more current than it should. Meaning the module is probably causing the issue.
