This gets confusing
If I go to mercruiserparts.com and input my drive serial # 0F693018, I can find the shift shat carrier assembly and it shows the new updated part of 23-815921A21 which comes with the new updated hose end coupler.... however if I search for my transom serial # 0F650239 and...
This is what I bought last year.. speedometer coupling kit 815956A1
looking at the new bushing carrier assembly, it doesn't look like the Speedo coupler will plug into the new port on the new bushing carrier assembly.
So do I need an updated speedo coupler now as well?
Well after...
So I recently replaced the speedometer fitting last year... I bought a brand new mercruiser one it was white or clear...
Can I still use that with this new updated shift shaft carrier assembly or do I have to buy a new updated speedometer fitting?
So I just finished reassembling my upper and lower units for the outdrive alpha 1 Gen 2.
I replaced the water pump impeller kit, input shaft carrier assembly underneath the water pump, and I pressure test the entire system at 12 psi for 20 minutes with zero pressure loss after everything was...
this is exactly what i needed thank you! i knew there had to be something out there that cross referenced the mercury part#.
just found them on amazon and placed the orders for both.
Gates 7525 XL High Capacity V-Belt
Gates 7460 XL High Capacity V-Belt
both about $15 each.
Thank you very much hopefully I got it right. I found a YouTube video of a guy pulling it out drive apart and took a screenshot and luckily could see his plastic dam which is also partially falling out lol
So I was attempting to lower the upper housing down onto my lower unit and this plastic plate fell out of a slot in the upper housing
One side has an x on it the other one is blank and if I turn it one way it slides in perfectly with no resistance if I flip it upside down it slides in with some...

Thank you very much for the confirmation, I appreciate it! Makes me feel a little bit better than somebody else can confirm that it is normal to see a little gear lube on the splines like that when you separate the housings.
I ordered a new water pump impeller kit. I just installed a new...
Yeah I pressure tested the lower unit today with the homemade pressure tester using a Schrader valve and a digital pump. It held 12 PSI for 11 minutes after I replaced the carrier assembly under the water pump housing
I really do want to change the shift shaft seal or the bushing assembly I'm...
I'm going to go to West Marine in buy some fittings to make a homemade pressure tester.
I already have the upper and the lower unit separated if I want to pressure test the lower unit just to test the shift shaft seal can I do that or do I have to put the upper and the lower unit together?
I...
Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive.
Had no leaks last August changed out the water impeller and the seals and then when I remove my outdrive to replace my engine I saw drive oil leaking out of the water inlet pickup in the lower unit.
Yes I know I'm supposed to pressure test the system I've seen YouTube...
thanks Scott
that one shows its 24 V not 12 V.
also whats the difference between that one and the edlerock one? I expected the marine one to have a 3rd overflow port that connected tubing back to the carb? and that one also only has input and output not third port.
thanks, what do you recommend then? chevy 350 5.7 just like the OP has, need one that is 5-7 psi. when I search google, amazon, west marine... i either get listings of mechanical fuel pump replacements or in tank marine electric fuel pumps.
