Same thing with the kitchenaids... my old (92 model? professional) is still a hobart unit just restamped as kitchenaid. has the same 300w motor as the newer units supposedly and it isn't even close. Mine kills them lol. Yea the market place is hit or miss. The one you linked is in the ballpark...

You had the waring pro serrated slicer (or similar) too? It works... But I have been eyeing the ones websturant store has. Seems the ~$300 units are all about the same. My local deli went out of business and sold their pro grade one for like $200... They do pop up on FB marketplace and such too.

Wells are drying up in Hunterdon, N J today.

Our quarter mile deep wells fell off in production towards the end of last year. We shut them all down and switched to surface Monday to conserve for now.

2025 should have a bumper crop of freeze busted blocks come spring

I don't think I've ever pulled a battery from my own boats tbh. Disconnect it? Sure.

    Bellows replacement

Mine lasted ~17 years in salt. Or if dad is remembering wrong they were ~30 years old. Shift boot was replaced once or twice as the old cables didn't last that long.

    Using poly resin without glass

Use unwaxed resin, let it set then gelcoat with a coat of unwaxed then a coat of waxed. That's how I did my bilge and electronics area. I wouldn't gel over wet resin/glass only because you may shift something/cause an air bubble and you might not see it.

2024 Splash of the Year Nominations

Technically mine was splashed but it's not complete. Got a leak, windshield to bed and a cabin to finish. But I did get 70 something hours on it. Next go around maybe though.

    Wellcraft 26/2670/2600 Excel/Martinique Construction

I'll be honest, mid-late 90s wasn't kind to any manufacturer. Searay included. A lot of friends have sundancers and there were a lot of corners cut on those... you just don't see them as they're pretty buried. Wellcraft builds a decent boat but to quote dad back when he worked on them, "their...

The grill is built into an island now. My problem is being 20 years old the damn valves are starting to go out. I have a cache of parts from parted out ones I've found over the years but that's slowly drying up. When I can finally afford to move into a house (unrelated but housing in my area...

I keep looking to replace my all stainless grill outside... to get anything comparable is in the 3k range too. But a set of burners and deflectors is $50. Dad paid... $600 like 18 years ago for it now. Grills and smokers are crazy expensive now.

I ran a vertical and offset smoker. I preferred the offset personally. Temperature control was better in the low range. If I wanted hot though, the vertical did better. They both had their strengths.

2025 should have a bumper crop of freeze busted blocks come spring

I can picture it now... "well, I did pull the drain plugs." "It pushed the freeze plug out, it did what it was supposed to do, right?" "Will jb weld fix this?" "Maybe it's only the intake." "Why is my oil milky?"

    1966 MFG Rebuild

90F. I used the heater to get everything above that temperature for good measure. I was cooking that day lol. It was sometime in July when I did it. Maybe 110F total? I also ran the math based on US composites expansion rate and my measurements of cavity size for my order. The single big kit...

    1966 MFG Rebuild

It was 90 F when I foamed my hull. I had the heater blasting the hull surface to also help. I feel I actually got good expansion. I waited for that reason. I also heated the buckets of foam parts to help as well and worked in small batches.

    Filet Table Engine Cover

Dad used some laminate. Made a screw down teak track around the edge to rout and contain liquid. Once it got beat up you unscrewed and replaced it. Stopped fishing around that time so I never saw it used. It's back to upholstery covered now for me because I fish the 33.

    !/2 ton Truck towing limitations

I have to deal with it (and in some instances DOT) with the fleet. And believe me, people are jerks. What the truck is labeled as is what they care about. Same as the magic 10,000 GVWR. Granted, this is operating in a different wheel house and within the peoples republic of NJ where any chance...

    !/2 ton Truck towing limitations

Legally, the little placard on the truck from when it left the factory is what matters. Doesn't matter what an owner changes....

    !/2 ton Truck towing limitations

If you pull up the same guide for your old truck, the 5000lb asterisk is there as well. Just saying. It is there as a CYA. Same as the 10% tongue weight to hit the max tow numbers. Note how 10% puts you at the ~1000lbs of tongue weight of a standard class IV for nearly all the max tow...

    1966 MFG Rebuild

Poly. Once it started kicking a bit it'd stick. I kind of realized less was more with it. Wet out leave it for 5-10 minutes and work elsewhere then go back and final roll was ultimately the play.
