    i have a 83 johnson 140 the stator connectors and power pack conn looks kinda dark maybe small pits in them how do you clean them or where can you get new ones and how would you replace them:confused:

    i have a 383 ranger with j140tlcte 3rd owner it has i think a j&e 19 p ss prop . factory wot specs is 4500 t0 5500 at wot it runs 5900 rpms .am i right to believe if i put like a 17 the wot rpms would come into factory specs and help the slow hole shot.:rolleyes:thank you for your help.

    well here goes i have j140tlcte in july it died when coming in to ramp put new plugs in idle better but not perfect for some reason i noticed it wasnt charging dont know how long found loose conn at positive term screw on term board fixed it then it charged,but i checked rectifier 1 yellow wire...

    clean motor

    i see pictures of other peoples motor they are so clean and dry how do they clean all the little cracks and crevises. after a few leaks under the cowl i have a lotof oily residue is there a spray that is suitable to spray with, any help would be greatly appreciated

    i would like to buy a factory johnson service manual part # 393765 i think .its for a j140tlcte model i have found 2 one is $60 and the other is $80 does anyone know if they are equal reprints or is one better than the other :confused: i hope this is the right place to ask this question if not...

    maintance free battery or not

    i was reading troubleshooting guide by cdi electronics , if i understand correctly they reccommend a battery that you add water to instead of maintance free for starting battery any reply much appreciated:joyous:

    tilt&trim leaking johnson 140

    hi everyone its me again my j140tlcte tilt&trim leaks down there are no fluid leaks has been filled it raises up and down pretty good at top of trim some times just when tilt starts it will stay while im trolling and even if i stop and fish.:confused:thank you for any ideals.:joyous:

    :confused: i have a j140tlcte enjine rebuilt last yr.a couple days ago i idled up to ramp it died sounded like compression come out the carb or something ,started back and seemed fine, few days before that i tilted the motor up like if you were in shallow water it died like it ran out of gas...
