i have a j50tlco model johnson top cylinder was not firing or maybe some, the charge coil pt # 0581670 and sensor 0583387 had black tar running out of the bottom of them motor running good now. my question is what would cause this to happen and would i need to replace something else or check...
just took new to me pontoon out hit a 2x6x4 it broke the mounting bracket that holds tilt &trim pump .j50tlco 1985 yr. the support bracket discontinued, any suggestions, weld where to get one etc. thank you for any help :rain::smile-new:

i have a j50tlco 85 50hp missing i pulled the top plug wire no change, pulled bottom wire enjine dies switched coils no change noticed melted tar from under flywheel pulled flywheel charge coil was oozing but it and sensor coil are within specs, with ohmn meter replaced charge coil and power...
