    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

So tonight I took apart the whole transom. Ripped that fiberglass outer shell thing out and look at the bottom… more fiberglass! There was a little bit of atrociously smelling water in the corner. Probably has been sitting there for decades. When I would squeeze the wood from the transom in that...

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

I’ve been digging getting a lot of wood out. But there’s a good amount stuck in there between the fiberglass transom. Is there a product that I could use that could help breakdown the wood to make it easier to get it out without it damaging the fiberglass?

    Help with Mariner outboard?

Hello guys I just picked up this cheap Mariner 25hp mid 90s and I’ve had these motors before but I’ve never seen this. Something definitely seems wrong. Watch this video. Thanks in advance.

That sea cast stuff does look pretty legit. Tho it’s ridiculously expensive.

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

No the transom was rotted when I got the boat July 2023. I just didn’t notice until weeks later when I felt the transom and it was soft in some spots. Should have checked before buying the boat. Lesson learned. I didn’t know it was this bad until I just took it apart this past weekend. That’s...

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

I’d say 98% of wood on the rest of the boat is completely solid. All the floors, cabinets, etc. I think the transom went to hell because every time I let off the throttle while driving the boat a bunch of water comes pouring in and soaks the transom. It’s pretty much every single time I let off...

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

If it’s wood then it’s solid because this transom doesn’t budge. And if it’s wood then it’s completely incased in the fiberglass. I’m not dropping anywhere close to 2k on that other boat I paid $1700 bucks for. So that one’s getting trashed. Sucks. I loved that other boat.

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

I actually picked up this other boat kinda similar except there’s no wood on it. At least that I’m aware off. The whole transom is fiberglass. Everything looks to be fiberglass. Unless I’m wrong…

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

Wow I can’t believe it ended up being this serious. I used the boat with the transom like this the whole past season. But I see now why half assing it isn’t smart. Thanks everyone.

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

Maybe it’s because I’ve never done this before but if I cut a nice thick piece of wood to fit in there and epoxied it, bolted the motor back in then we’d be golden…or not? Lol. I definitely don’t wanna put a ton of time and energy into this thing but would like to get it going so I at least...

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

Now could I do a half ass job and put a piece of wood in the transom in between that fiberglass shell?

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

Hell. I gotta replace the transom on my 94 Lakeland 16 footer tri hull boat but noticed something odd when taking it apart. I ripped the carpet off and saw that the wood of the transom was incased in this fiberglass shell so I ripped it off and saw that the wood was rotted so bad it looks like...

    Prop inconsistently spinning in neutral?

Hey guys me again. I got the motor running on the boat I just picked up last weekend. Did a compression got 112-118 psi for all 3 cylinders both cold and hot results were the same. Is that good or is the motor on its way to being junk? My tiller 25hp mariner has 130 psi for compression so that’s...

Anyone ever heard of Riverview Marine Inc?

Hey guys I just picked up this 14ft trihull fiberglass boat and on the title it says the manufacturer is “Riverview mrine ink” made in 1984. I tried looking this company up and found absolutely nothing. Has anyone heard of this before? Seller had no clue either. Also there’s a section on the...

    Need help with identifying motor

I didn’t smell it but it definitely looked like gear oil. There was so much oil it’s not normal and it was pouring out and behind the prop like a consistent flow not dripping.
