PLEASE HELP NEW BOAT OWNER CRACK

Judging by how much damage has been done to the prop... it looks like the drive has been run through rocks and debris. If it were me, I'd pull the entire drive and replace it with a good used unit. That one has obviously been thrashed pretty bad.

Upgrading trailer tires and rims - need advice

I did exactly this conversion last year and it works great. Currently running 205/75-15's. Took off the 13" package and swapped it over to my landscape trailer. Took the 15" setup off the landscape trailer and put it on the boat trailer. It tows much better and has plenty of clearance when going...

    Rotten Boat Factory

"You can change the house, but you can't change the neighborhood" I would probably move to a better/more private location if I were in the same situation.

    Carb choice.

Yep, all qjets had the issue. They also had crappy floats that got heavy after soaking up fuel. The Edelbrock has dual brass floats right out of the box.

    Carb choice.

Ditto this. One of the problems with the quadrajet... is that it's no longer made or available as a new carb. Very little (if any) aftermarket support. The Edelbrock/Weber is still available brand new out of the box and every tuning kit/part is still readily available to order. I just picked up...

    Missing drive oil bottle ???

My wife cant drive a boat anyway. Thats kinda why I got this little beater boat. Its a good size to teach her on and if she whacks a dock I wont be too upset. The 24ft Chaparral is alot more boat and in much better condition. I cant allow that one to get wrecked or damaged. She already dented...

    Missing drive oil bottle ???

Yeah i think this boat spent most of its time on the trailer. Its only a little 19ft Mariah. I need to pull the drive and go thru all the maintenance items anyway.

    Missing drive oil bottle ???

Just to follow up... I got into the boat last night between rainstorms and looked at the transom. There is a place to put a fitting, but it's plugged-off... so it appears this boat was never equipped with an oil bottle. I have a used one coming from ebay anyway... so if there's a way to make it...

Mercruiser 4.3 removing oil from bores?

Was it left outdoors to freeze with water in the block ? Even if it was winterized or drained... just the simple fluctuations in temperature and humidity can/will cause water to get into places you dont want it. If it has decent compression, good oil pressure and doesn't make any bearing...

    Missing drive oil bottle ???

Thanks for all the replies ! Yes, it WAS a quadrajet but was dumping fuel pretty badly and was missing the choke Tstat and linkage. I was never a fan of them and have had fantastic luck with the Edelbrock on my other boat... so I opted to convert over to an edelbrock on the 4.3. All I had to do...

All of that is going bye-bye.

Thats the busted up bilge pump. lol

    Missing drive oil bottle ???

So just fill the lower unit until the oil comes out the upper plug and call it good ? I didn't see any random hoses floating around the motor compartment... so yeah... maybe it never had one. I did lookup the serial number on the mercruiser parts site and it shows two different bottles...

    7.4mpi head torque

Any small or big block ive ever built has been 65-75ft lbs. I've probably built 50+ engines in the last 35+ years.

    Missing drive oil bottle ???

Picked up this 92 Mariah 4.3/AlphaOne Gen2 last weekend and I'm going over everything, top to bottom. New exhaust manifolds, starter, Edelbrock carb, tuneup parts, gimble/bellows kit, water pump, etc... I just noticed that I havent been able to find the oil bottle for the drive unit. Am I...

Another v6 to v8 swap question

I know this is an old post but I am confused by the answers given. It was always my understanding that the distance between the motor mount bosses and the bellhousing are exactly the same for Chevy small block, big block AND 4.3 V6... which means this should be a direct drop-in swap, with the...

    Trailer Brakes or Not

Yeah it does feel a bit heavy for 4000lbs. Chaparral specs say 3850 dry... so who knows. lol

    Trailer Brakes or Not

My boat is approx 4000lbs and came (used) on a double axle Magic Tilt aluminum trailer with no brakes. When I say "no brakes"... I mean... not even on the axles. Just hubs on spindles. This actually surprised me, but the boat ramp is exactly 8 minutes from my driveway... so I haven't prioritized...

    Adding 100+hp. Would you re-prop ?

I can't (won't) argue that at all... but suffice to ay, I'm not interested in pushing or approaching any hull barriers. My wife already complains about the wind in her face when we are over 30mph. lol The current combo runs 48mph... so if I can occasionally get into the upper 50's low 60's I'll...

    Adding 100+hp. Would you re-prop ?

Oh trust me when I say... a big block is always the way to go. I learned that 30+ years ago when I was building drag cars. My last one was 632 cubic inches. 😁
