First time boat owner with questions about 1998 Starcraft 1810 LX

The exhaust tube will give you more of a noticeable exhaust note when you are up on plane. Sometimes it's cool but it can get annoying. Find any Mercruiser engine and drive info here : http://boatinfo.no/lib/library.html You wont be able to download any of the manuals, but I think you can...

Trying to find a part question..

Any chance you can post a picture of the of the cylinder? Or better yet is there a manufacturers name on the cylinder that you could look up on the interweb?

    MFG replacement parts

Yep, if they are straight glass windows (as apposed to curved) any glass shop should be able to do that for you, and use tempered glass to boot.

1983 Astroglass 175 bass boat - wiring diagram

If you need to lower the motor, somewhere down by the tilt/trim motor there should be a "bleeder screw" that will let you lower the motor without using the tilt/trim motor.

    1992 Glastron 1700G Question.

If the floor has soft spots in it then so likely do the stringers and possibly the transom. That is pretty old for a fiber glass boat. If you do by it make sure the seller takes you for ride on a lake to verify how it runs. Running the motor on the garden hose/muffs doesn't prove much.

    Transom mounted Transducer

My experience with the adhesive on those zip tie anchors is they will either stick for 5 minutes or 5 years. Cleaning the surface you stick em too is imperative. Might be a good idea to use the 3M VHB tape.

    Transom mounted Transducer

I guess if you just click on the blue McMaster Carr that is the link to the zip tie anchors.

    Transom mounted Transducer

I used these adhesive backed zip tie anchors and small zip ties to secure the transducer cable to the transom. https://www.mcmaster.com/7582K11/ You could probably find the same thing at an auto parts store or Home Depot or Menards. It's surprising, the adhesive even holds below the water...

Dry carbon fouled plugs 120 hp mercruiser

Oh, got it. Yeah I would imagine if that was bent that have an affect on something. Good to hear your not blowing black smoke any more.

Dry carbon fouled plugs 120 hp mercruiser

The accelerator pump (power piston) would have nothing to do with your bogging at higher RPM or vacuum. All the accelerator pump does is squirt fuel down the carburetor bores when you move the throttle lever. So when you pump the throttle right before you start the boat, the accelerator pump...

Dry carbon fouled plugs 120 hp mercruiser

1 1/2 turns out is your starting point. Put the boat in the water and get the engine up to operating temp. Then adjust your idle jet richer then leaner, identify the spot in between where the engine runs the best and your done. A vacuum gage is not needed. This from one of the pros on...

Dry carbon fouled plugs 120 hp mercruiser

If you have black soot on the transom of the boat at the water line, then you are running way rich. You might need to tune your idle jet(s).

    Vacuum Gauge Connection

Don't those carbs come with those idle jets "sealed" so you can't adjust them? I have the same engine package, the previous owner had the engine package installed. I got the rig with about 20 hrs on the engine. Someone popped the caps off the idle and totally screwed up the jets to where it...

Dry carbon fouled plugs 120 hp mercruiser

If you rebuilt the carb, are you sure you float settings are correct? If the float setting isn't correct the needle will not seat and shut off the fuel flow to the bowl, extra fuel could be dumping down the carb.

Restoring an old Cruisers Bar Harbor 257

You will find everything you want/need to know about repairing or doing maintenance on engine and drive here. http://boatinfo.no/lib/library.html You won't be able to download anything, but I think you can print pages. As far as restoration of your boat, you might want to post those questions...

Lower unit or shift linkage issue?

Could be a gimbal bearing, or U- joints. If you have your lower unit tilted too high when it's running you might here some knocking. Perhaps an engine alignment might help too.

To build a live well or not?

Maybe salt water fish. I wouldn't want to take a fresh water walleye, sunfish, crappie or other and put them in a salt water brine. Typically we keep the fish alive in a well aerated live well right up until we head to the fish cleaning house. If we need to travel, then we fillet the fish...

To build a live well or not?

Some years back I saw somewhere that you could buy a kit to basically convert a large cooler to live well. Pretty sure it had a pump and everything. You could check here in the iboats store, or West Marine, Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops. If you are going to be using live minnows for bait at some...
