    Engine Cover/Rear Decking

Thanks Chris. I went with 1/2" plywood and 1x2's for/with support all the way around. Will be adding 2 x 3 along the edge for it to rest on. Seems the back of the boat isn't quite as square as I thought it was. At 30 x 66, didn't think it needed 2x4's for the cross supports. As it goes, I...

    Engine Cover/Rear Decking

I've finally splashed my project boat. Now to fine tune other items on the boat. I need to build a rear engine cover/deck. It needs to support one person for tanning reasons (LOL), able to lift/remove it for access to the battery switches and engine. I'm thinking an aluminum frame or a frame...

And she's SPLASHED!!! Finally had time on Monday to splash her. Went to Lake Lou Yeager in Litchfield, IL. It was the closest unlimited HP lake to us. Will be rebuilding the carb that's on it. Had times where we were at 4k rpm scooting across the lake, then hit a wave and dropped to...

    Transom replacement

How does the inside skin attach to the hull? Welded? screwed? Riveted? Any of them, I would still go with cutting the inside skin. That way you could make sure you got all of the rotten wood out. Then make a splice for re-attaching the inside skin back to the hull.

1986 Brougham Bridger Yukon Delta Fishing boat renovation

Thanks Kcassells. Finally got it out of the garage. Seems we added a bit of weight to the boat (drive line, 3 batteries, wire, hyd trim unit, etc). Too much for the two of us to push. Had to hook the truck up to it and pull it out. Used our makeshift lift to raise it up to get it on the...

Replacing just the rotted area or whole back of boat/transom?

For the strength, I would replace it completely. One thing to ask yourself is how long before the rest of it goes south? Fiberglass isn't that hard to work with. There are a lot of folks on here that will talk you through all of it. I know they helped me doing my boat. Folks here like...

1986 Brougham Bridger Yukon Delta Fishing boat renovation

After spending time out of town for work, family issues, farm issues, and other life issues, we were able to get back to the Hopper. Wiring for stage one has been completed. Which is wiring that is required, next will be the rest of it. Ran out of wire tie downs and wire ties. Will be...

Yes it has, and yes she is pretty awesome. We've both been married before and neither of us like drama. So, we both agree that we don't need to be married to be happy together. And that works for us. My Mom calls us Frick and Frack...her words. Anyways, she cut carpet today for the back...

They are Sierra marine gauges, Eclipse model. This is the way the garage looks at the completion of the painting stage. What a mess. Clean up starts today.

Hope not, we're going to start out with two house batteries and go from there. Other than watching paint dry, changing the dark gray to more of a silver, worked on the instrument box. Wasn't sure of what I really wanted, but came up with this for now.

    Starting from scratch

With an ECM tossed into the mix, I wouldn't run the alternator to the house bank either. However, I don't have an ECM so either way would work. Learn something new every day. Thanks Alldodge

    Starting from scratch

First off, I wouldn't want any of my electronics running off of the start battery. To me, the start battery is there for primary underway functions. Like you said, starter motor, power for primary navigation lights, lower trim, and trim tabs. Not much else. It doesn't really matter which...
