Hi Chris, I am about put in a brand new engine with e brand new Edelbrock carb. So I will connect that via the fuel pump as it should be and see if this also empties out like the Carter carb. I guess it will because they are the construction. Then we will see what I do. Regards Michael

    4.3 Mercruiser cold start issues

Thank you for explanation. But I am still struggling to accept that. If the carb needle would stick open then the carb would be flooded also when the engine is running as the pump delivers much more fuel than the engine can use. As I wrote already, I have this alarm horn that starts to sound...

    4.3 Mercruiser cold start issues

I always like good advice and if someone helps me to understand things. This was just an assumption. But what I can say is that my carb is is empty after a day or two. I have a transparent little fuel filter in line to protect the sender of the flow meter. So I can see that there is a good...

    4.3 Mercruiser cold start issues

I had the same configuration, 4.3 pre Vortec with Carter 9600S carburetor, and I had the same problems. The previous owner installed a can of starting fluid with a hose in the flame arrestor and pressed this once every time he started the engine. I didn't like this solution and had a look at the...

    Knock sensor for Thunderbolt V

Thank you very much to all of you for your replies. Yes, the new engine will get a carburetor again, but new one. The comments of Chris that the V6 TB-V modules might not have the internal circuitry to connect the sensor makes me rethink the knock sensor project again. Also there is not...

    Knock sensor for Thunderbolt V

Hello, thank you very very much for your reply. First I will try to answer your questions. The boat and the old engine are from 1994 with a Thunderbolt IV ECU mounted to the distributor. It has a warning system connected to a water temperature switch, an oil pressure switch and the oil...

    Knock sensor for Thunderbolt V

Hello, my name is Michael, I am 54 years old and I am from Germany. I have searched a while now in forums and internet but wasn't able to solve the mistery about the knock sensors yet. Last year I bought a Bayliner 2050 with a 4.3 Mercruiser engine. It was not in the best shape and in...
